East Perth Co-Captain Kyle Anderson has recommitted to the Club for the 2019 WAFL Season. Exciting big man Ajang Ajang has resigned for the next two seasons, while speedster Tarir Bayok, who spent the last two years on the West Coast Eagles list, re-joins the club.
Anderson, Ajang and Bayok join the likes of Pat McGinnity, Sharrod Wellingham, Mitch Fraser, Jackson Ramsay, Jaxon Cahill, Asher Samelko, Matt Young, Harley Stack, Christian Ameduri, Aaron Redhead and Kye Willcocks who signed two-year agreements at the start of 2018.
The club has also been active on the recruiting front as well. The club is excited to welcome back Mitch Howlett. Howlett has played 24 games for the Royals between 2013-15 including the 2014 Grand Final. Mitch is a product our Development Program coming from the Augusta-Margaret River Football Club.
24-year-old Marcus Ruggerio has also rejoined the club. A 192cm, 90kg key forward, Ruggerio showed good signs in our Colts and Reserves teams. For the past couple of seasons Marcus has been playing Centre Half Forward at Beverley in the Avon League under former Reserves Coach Clint Rudd and along side former Royals Paul Johnson, Josh Smith and Garry Moss.
Two-time JJ Lussick medallist Jarrod Best is also back at the Royals. The 184cm midfielder played 8 Reserves games in 2017 before returning to Cervantes. Joining him in coming down from Cervantes is Daniel Acres. Acres is a 187cm lock down backman. “I’m keen to get back into it and have another try because my body has matured a bit more since my last go,” Acres told The West Australian earlier this week. Daniel is the older brother of St Kilda Midfielder Blake Acres.
The club is also looking forward to seeing what 24-year-old midfielder Jayden Magro can bring to the Royals. Jayden played in the State Country side in 2017 and was a part of the WA Amateur U/23’s in 2018. Magro kicked 59 goals for High Wycombe finishing 3rd in their Best and Fairest count.
The boys will start pre-season training on Monday the 19th of November
