Never let the truth get in the way of a good story guys. Some sort of revenue sharing arrangements are needed going forward. An even competition is a healthy one.

Just need an effective Player Points system so that the advantage that the more financial clubs currently have over the less financial clubs is at an absolute minimum.

The current system certainly is not working, but would a product of an extremely tight point system be the same inequalities. The few clubs with the best junior zones dominating the ladder.

Back to reality EP would piss up the wall any money they have accumulated from WCE paying all the bills over the years on half baked Victorian recruits like they always have plus they would actually have to start paying for bills, staff etc as WCE wont foot the tab anymore....and that is if they even really want to break away from the alignment...all to cosy a set up I hear!

Interesting that you raise the subject of clubs pissing away their money, I would think you and the club you support would have some great research info on that in your financial archives.

And in a spirit of collegial support perhaps Subiaco can provide the research vis a vis salary and points caps' regulations.

Depends on how the points system is structured. An effective system can tighten up on the number of experienced quality players a club can attract whilst allowing more freedom of movement for younger players. Ie players might not attract more than 1 point until they've played League or unless they are listed on the protected Player list for that season.

One thing that has to change is that the points should not just be calculated over the senior squad but also based on the 22 that play league each weekend. It should have a maximum cap for the squad which will encourage clubs to develop their kids and a maximum points for league team to make sure these locals get a chance in the league team, and not just used to fill the reserves with 1 point players to offset the interstate, ex-AFL and experienced out of zone WAFL league players some clubs continually recruit.

My understanding is one of the goals of the proposal to remove the Colts from the control of the WAFL clubs is to allow easier movement of talented kids who are getting limited opportunities in the stronger colts programs.

Good thoughts indeed. I know EP has picked up Colts players that couldn't get a game at Claremont etc. Swans are constantly trying to poach kids from theEP Colts and I think Subi may have tried to pull a few tricks this season.
