no Larry...EF and Cl only had around 6 AFL guys max in their teams from memory..not 12.

Il take your word for that but from my memory the 2012 grand final had around 25 AFL players current, recently retired etc. So you think it should be limited to six for the finals and is six fair then?

The VFL only allows 10 listed players to play in Finals from associated clubs.
Why doesnt the WAFC/WAFL follow that line?

In my humble opinion Larry I think that aligned AFL players should have played at least 5 WAFL games and no more than 5 AFL games in a season to qualify for WAFL finals. That would immediately rule out the likes of Lycett, Butler, McGovern, McGinity and co who are eligible now because of their 5 WAFL games but wouldn't get up under the less than 6 AFL games rule.

Fair enough I thought ten to twelve WAFL games and maximum six AFL players is about right. But by that measure you could get a situation where effectively the aligned club is non competitive come the finals just making up the numbers that is not ideal either. Let's be honest EP is so strong this year because of the quality of our WAFL players combined with the WCE. Once EP lose the likes of Johnson and Smith they can't be replaced and the whole alignment becomes less attractive to us EP diehards.

Is that right...so you're saying EP weren't strong last year even though they played in a GF and entered it as red hot favourites?

I haven't got a clue what you mean by that can you dumb it down a touch for me. Of course we where strong last year with a team of great WAFL players topped up with half a dozen AFL players. We recruited arguably the best two big men outside the AFL to make us into a final contender we can no longer do this when these guys retire.

10 afl listed players should be the bottom line as per VFL rules.

Lets not forget they dont have to play 5 WAFL games either. If they travel as an emergency they get that added to the list Strange idea

Ok pretty sure EP had 6 AFL listed players last year where they lost an entered as hot favourites. But having said that we had Hutchings under the host club rule and he was a key player for WP in that game and pretty sure Mellington who has since left played.

Only difference is this year EP has 12 AFL listed players quite a jump and EP kept the cream of the crop from the others which adds up to a formidable side.
Assuming Subi plays the final there will 2 players from their club playing for EP due to AFL alignment. My argument is those 2 would of been playing for Subi under the Host club arrangement in the finals.

WP v EP is always a classic game as both side lift. Will their opponents this year have the same spirit?
