it was a good win against a typically dogged Demons colts team.

The game was played well, umpired to an acceptable standard by boys still learning their trade and was played in a hard manner.

The first half was a struggle for any dominance although the second quarter saw the EP have more of the ball but with Perth getting more results for their efforts. The second finished with a melee that whilst showed the struggle was there for everyone to see but no real spite or intent.

The third quarter saw the EP turn their possessions into results with 4 goals to one being a fair result. The last quarter was a fitting finale for a a strong effort by the EP boys.

Still a long way to go but the signs were good after what was (from afar) a fairly insipid effort the previous week.

The morning finished well catching up with Troy Polak and learning his boy played in the Perth team at CHF, he had the task of taking on Clayton Giblett . The task was a bit daunting but he tried but found Gibbo a bit bigger and skilled at his job, learning at this level is everything.

EF next week and another hard game.

Thanks mate. My nephew plays colts for East Perth so I'm always interested to see how they're going.

Hopefully they keep on improving. Haven't seen the colts play this season. Will try to have a look this week.

What is the difference between their situation and the story you posted earlier about an East Fremantle kid leaving because his dreams of playing league football are being blocked by Victorian/WAFL recruits?

How many colts progress to league football anyway. I would say the percentage is quite low, most kids have little interest in playing WAFL seniors. Did eaves drop on a father of an East Perth colts player who is in the state squad. He was moaning that his son should be playing league and would be at any other club. This young player is around 50kg and was almost killed playing against Vic metro when I attended. Good little player but not even close to league standard, is this a symptom of lack of respect for how hard WAFL seniors is. Or perhaps just a father with delusions of grandeur.

In WP's case Larry of the League team that played on Saturday 18 players came from the colts system.

I'm sure that's the case Falconstrike and other teams probably have more than that. But they are not all colts from last year are they. They are probably colts from more than a decade of colts teams. Probably five or six hundred colts through your system to produce that team on the weekend. My point being the ratio of colts players to league football is small and from colts to 100 games is tiny.
