Congrats to the club on its nomination along with WCE and the West Coast Fever. You'd expect WCE to win it after collecting an AFL flag but good job by Subi nonetheless.

It would have to be a pretty tough call for it not to be Subiaco - firstly there is the fact that the colts and reserves dominated and both took out premierships - then there is the performance of the league side who not only took out the flag but also went undefeated throughout the season, which in itself is no mean feat when you look at the injuries that the Lions had to cope with. There depth was certainly tested and the club showed great resilience, certainly more depth than the weagle reserves displayed.
So agreed, well done on the nomination but it would be incredibly unfair for Subiaco not to win sports team of the year. Do they have a sports team of the decade? Surely the Lions would be a certainty for that.

Agree re the Wildcats and their success .......... but bloody hell, does anyone else find their sport as boring as bat shiit?

I have been to 1 game, in the old Entertainment Centre, and was turned off from the first minute of the pre-game.

Darkness enveloped the entire venue, and then the players entered one by one, with a spotlight on them, and accompanied by raucous music and adoring screams from the crowd.

Then the game started, and it went downhill from there. :(

And this comes from a baseball aficionado, where there Americanisation has continued its relentless intrusion ......... to the point where a season or so ago, at a Heat home game they announced free entry for uniformed service personnel.

(Apologies re the O/T, BC :P ).

No worries jack...you wouldn't recognise a Wildcats home game now at the Perth Arena with 13,000 fans all in red with non-stop noise from the courtside announcer. I wouldn't go simply because it's too full on for my liking and also you'd finish up in the bleachers as all the good seats are taken by season pass holders and the like.

Same here BC. Can't stand the way they (court announcer) orchestrates the crowd and yelling his head off and I don't see NBA stadiums full of everyone wearing the same coloured shirts. I love watching basketball it's a great game but I can't stand the way they orchestrate it at Perth Arena.
Get on your bike.

Subi Deserve it for mine. Good luck The Lions.

I like watching my sons play basketball - but like the rest on here - I hate the rubbish that goes along with the wildcat games. The noise is on the up at AFL games already. Not the WAFL though folks
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!

I see West Coast Eagles won the WA Sports Team of the Year. I guess after the season Subi had last year that result makes it certain no WAFL team will ever win the award...maybe if WCE and Freo finished down near the bottom we would have been a better chance...but then again, maybe not.
