Fat arse McFaull, farkn useless, I remember him more for when he gave us fark all...Ironmonger was no better, probably worse, hugely over rated. When we saw the back of all of that garbage for the new breed plus quality like Sells things turned around quickly. Schultz & to a lesser extent Munro were decent they wouldn't have been moved on Beas

I think the Ironmonger that was on Perths list a while back was Geoffs Son. Rhys I think his name was.

Wasn't Stephen Sells from Geelong West in the VFA? He was a real sneak but the thing I always remember about him was watching him and a mate stagger out of the WACA blind as maggots after a day at the cricket in late 1985 Australia v NZ in a Test match.
I was a wide eyed 12 year old and was stunned to see a WAFL star pissed at the cricket haha
Beneath the Southern cross i stand, on Bassendean Oval, can in hand, Swan Districts, you Farkin Beauty!

That's right SD Sells was from Geelong West and knew where the goals were! Simpler times then and players could get by with having a few drinks without appearing on the news or in the papers cos someone caught it on their smartphone.

I remember Graeme Schultz as an A grade mid-fielder, very cleaver player and from memory after missing a number of games he finished in the top 3 or 4 in the Sandover, cant remember which year though.

DG, found this on wikipaedia re Schultz.

Graeme Schultz (born 17 May 1953) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Essendon in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Schultz was a forward and rover, recruited to Essendon from Warracknabeal in the Wimmera Football League. He kicked four goals on his league debut in 1971, against Hawthorn, which helped him to a season tally of 29 goals; just two behind the club's top goalkicker Alan Noonan. His 16 games in 1974 were deemed to be some of his best, as he finished third in the W. S. Crichton Medal count. He made the decision to move to Western Australia after the 1974 season, for study purposes, but Essendon initially refused to grant him a clearance, which meant he couldn't play in the WANFL. They later gave in, and he played the second half of the 1975 season playing for Subiaco. Despite appearing in just 12 games, Schultz almost won the Sandover Medal, finishing only four votes behind winner Alan Quartermaine.
After six more seasons at Subiaco, Schultz was convinced by new Essendon coach Kevin Sheedy to return to the VFL in 1981. In his first season back, he played in a night premiership and bettered his previous season goals tally by kicking 30 league goals. Injury kept him to five games in 1982, and in his first appearance of the 1983 VFL season, against St Kilda, he broke his leg. He wouldn't play another VFL game for Essendon, but he was a member of their 1983 reserves premiership winning team. He spent part of the 1984 season with Footscray, without playing a senior game, before ending the year at Camberwell.
