I saw on the $ubi facebook page a pic of one of our premiership teams (1986) with a question, if you could bring back any Lion$ player from any era, who would it be and why? For me its a tough choice of either Keene, Bucky or Feathers. My pick is Keene only because we need a ruckman otherwise I can't split them

... a question for some of the older diehards here, who was better Fitzpatrick or Keene? I didn't see a lot of Fitzpatrick, only really when he was at the blues on the winners

I'll restrict mine to the last 20 years DG and say Ali Pickett or Brad Smith. Ali as an inside mid was superb and we could really use one now to help out Kitch, Max and Marsh. Skidda as he would straighten up the current forward line and become that go to key forward who you knew would have a red hot crack no matter what. As for Keene v Fitzy that's a tough one as different eras. Fitzy probably wouldn't be as effective these days as he would be a small ruckman but was very skilled and a sublime mover. Keene would have been a nightmare to play against due to his size and the way he made himself awkward. I'd go for Keeney as he not only had the ability to dominate in the ruck but could hit the scoreboard as well when moved forward so for mine had a few more strings to his bow than Fitzpatrick.

For me, I would pick Keene in any team of mine.  I guess I saw more of him than Fitzy, but he just didn’t seem to know how to lose.  I thought he was in the same league as Stephen Michael in the WAFL and Dean Cox in the AFL.  Some would say he wasn’t as good as those other 2, but he was one of the very few opposition players that I admired.

In our current situation it would be a ruckman, so Keene or Fitzy. Keene had more height but Fitzy had a big leap and was a brilliant overhead mark, something Keene was not quite as good at. Keene had a longer kick but Fitzy was overall more all round skilled. In the WAFL comp I'd go for Fitzy but not by much. Ignoring our current ruck situation, Bucks by the length of the straight.

Going back a bit more, Laurie Kettlewell was a very similar type to Bucks, or vice versa really, could play anywhere in the mids or key position as a 6 footer, recognised as one of the best "utility" players to play the game but that was 50-60 years ago.

Buckenara makes sense. Forward presence, goal scoring,  big mark. Tough.

D lamb would add a lot of grunt to that midfield. Id go featherby ahead of him though.

Keene made 1987 premiership a reality, didn't he.

Who would give subi the best advantage? Not sure.

(Think 9 subi boys in afl this week. Maybe a record)

Love watching the "Kid" playing for Brissy . Danny Rich is just about in career best form, like a good wine he has got better with age. Really found his niche as an attacking halfback. Arguably the best kick in the comp, certainly on a par with Hurn. His first qtr v WC was terrific. I hope for his sake they make the big one and win, will be a nice bookend to his flags at Subi as a teenager.

Yes you cant beat having mercurial players like Buckenara, you don't want to blink. Same applies to Liam Ryan, he would be right up there on my list. Another mercurial player, George Young in his prime. Didn't see a lot of him either, how did he compare to Buckenara in your opinion SS & co?

Bucks was more of a bull in the mids, could play inside and outside, super strong in the contests and highly skilled. George was like silk, smooth deceptively fast with exquisite skills, not so much an inside player but very courageous non the less and a regular goal kicker off the wing.
But Bucks I think would be better suited to the current game style that Youngy.
