Just read in The West there's nine missing from last years GF side and Lockyer will struggle to get back for the rest of the season...Max is out with general soreness although Borchet and Braut aren't far off.

A good win with Dela, Horse, Benny Newton outstanding. Young Nick Martin was good and Sokol found a bit of form. Greg Clark had a day to forget but a wins a win I guess and every one is important in a shortened season. I also saw Harry Marsh did a hammy which means will be without Marsh, Lockyer, Powell, Borchet, Braut and maybe Walters against Souths next week....bugger.

Yes BC a solid hit out after our poor first up effort, thought Swans were really committed in their attack on the ball, pretty physical match, they have some good tall marking option up forward.

As for us we fielded a fairly short team so the emphasis was on bring the ball to the ground where we had the edge. Our delivery to our forwards was far better but our conversion rate on a perfect day was poor. I heard from a former committeeman that Lockyer is a PCL, may be a slight chance to get back for finals, Brauts problem was miss diagnosed?? he's doubtful to get back anytime soon, Borchet is a bit of a mystery, he's been told to rest whatever it is but sounds long term, Powell is gone for the season and probably the first half of next season if its a full season, marsh is another hammy so will probably miss 2 games, maxy was general soreness but he should be right after 3 weeks.

Thought Kennedy was our best over 4 qtrs, Dela around the ground, Newton and Horse through the mids were very good, Martin with 2 looks very promising, Sok with 3 looks like he's getting back some form.

We are really lacking a couple of tall forwards, martin is not much bigger than Sok, the rest are small/mediums, so I'd like to see Breman given a chance at CHF, rangy left footer with an excellent mark. Maxy should come in for Marsh, plus we need a tall key backman, especially next week against an unbeaten Bullies with Shaw at CHF.

Today was far better than the Cl game and a few have run into some form but with these key injuries I think this will be the first time in a long time we genuinely go in as underdogs.

Your teams discipline and communication stood out and you won the ground ball. Should have put Swans away before half time. The scoreboard flattered the home team.

DD agree regarding the ground ball, we were pretty disciplined in getting the ball to the ground at contests, not trying to take marks as Swans were quite a bit taller around the ground. We had far more experience through the mids so that worked well against a fairly inexperienced Swans team. Swans are a quick team and were spreading well and once they get their skills up a bit they will be a good side, plenty of physicality about them as well which is good when properly targeted.

Just repeating what I just posted on the Swans thread for your views.

What do Swans and Subi supporters feel about the 12.40 start? Going as a neutral it looked like a healthy crowd and I liked the start time. When the game has finished there is still half the afternoon left before the evening starts.

Good crowd at Basso looked like around 3k+, Swans had their premiership reunions going so they made a big day of it with plenty to keep the kids occupied, my grandies enjoyed the kids play zone. Beautiful day for footy, even had the sunscreen on in the outer, didn't mind the early start given the long drive home to York but not ideal for the Swannies reunion lunch I would think. Only downer was the abuse crew or whatever they are called, we could hear them clearly on the outer wing and their foul language was a negative and totally unnecessary on what was otherwise a good family day at the footy.

Injury Update:
Lockyer unlikely to be back for finals
Walters did a quad so probably out for another 3 weeks
Borchet has an unusual injury (knee?) and only thing to fix it is rest so who knows how long out?
Braut injury (can't recall what) was apparently mis-diagnosed originally and now likely to be out for some time.
This is all direct from a player's mouth.

Marsh injured and off very early against Swans...assume re-injured the hammy he strained against Claremont so could be out for a while this time.

Sorry no good news fellas........gonna be tough against the stronger teams!

Not good news at all Ocker. From memory Braut was a knee against EP in a scratchy so can't see him being back any time soon either. If we get flogged by Souths this week then should probably start looking towards next year and playing more young blokes like Breman et al. We've had a good run in recent times so we can't complain too much.

Great opportunity for the youngsters with these key players out, we desperately need some additional talls, Breman is the first one to look at, slot in at CHF, he still might be a bit raw but watched the younger Borchet play Cl in the ressies, big unit, quite mobile, great pair of hands and an awkward but effective kicking style, another big youngster worth giving a go. likely we will be 1 & 2 after this weekend, then 4 winnable games v Peel EP P & EF, not saying these are certainties but certainly winnable, so hopefully 5 & 2 before we play Joondy up at Joondy in the final round which is never to be taken for granted.
