I think it would be fair to say Australia's current federal government and recent previous administrations are/ have been lacking! One only has to look around to see. Yes it has been a terrible start to the new year by the federal pollies. And sadly, after reading about another big news story of today, their bad start is not going to recover!
All sad to say.

The fed government has been very naughty indeed. Scamming people with their robdebt thingy. I bet they wish those e-mails had not seen the light of day. Apparently the gov knew 6 months ago the action was illegal !! Not sure how many "debts" have been issued? I would imagine in the 10's of thousands during the years the scam has been operating.
Is going to be a lot of money they will need to repay

Prime Minister Scott Morrison's office was involved in suggesting which projects should be approved under a controversial sport grants scheme, a Senate inquiry has been told.

The evidence paints a picture of Mr Morrison's office being more heavily involved than the Government has admitted to date.......

But wait ....... there's more:

Some 43% of projects funded under the controversial $100m sports grant program overseen by Bridget McKenzie – 290 in total – were ineligible, according to officials from the Australian National Audit Office.

The evidence from the ANAO to the Senate inquiry on Thursday directly contradicts the defence of the program employed by Scott Morrison and the former sports minister, who had repeatedly claimed that “no ineligible projects” were funded under the scheme.

And still hiding the Gaetjen report, and the Porter legal opinion.

Tick, tock, Scott.

Mate, Morrison (fucken hate the Americanism label “scomo) had absolutely nothing to do with fixing up our gst. The sole cause of that was The Barnett Govt getting obliterated in the last state election. The Federal Libs had to actually take notice of WA for the first time after 20 odd years of dominant Liberal voting patterns. That’s the shit part of our Westminster system, stuff is decided on importance of seat and to hell with what’s best for the country. The Sports rorts debacle just continues that

Old morrison is walking around on egg shells and in damage control mode after it's been revealed he was in full knowledge relating to the sports rort affair. And only McKenzie resigns!? Surely one has to ask questions as to why Morrison declined to release the Gaetjens report? Apparently, it states a significantly different interpretation of McKenzie’s administration of the sports grants program. And were the grants made with proper legal authority, and it's said differs from the interpretation of the auditor general.

Yeah, but I see the real Time Bomb as Joyce, if he ends up as Nationals Leader and deputy PM, its a massive problem for Morrison. The Nats are like the mad uncle at Xmas.

The Sports Rorts affair just gets deeper and deeper.

And the finger is firmly pointed at Scotty from Marketing - the Tricky Dicky of Oz politics.

The obfuscater and liar is facing 3 different attacks on his credibility:

- the Hillsong pastor in the Whitehouse

- the Hawaiian trip which now seems to have been booked much earlier in the year

- and the sports rorts (amongst others), which point firmly back at his office,

Tick, tick, tick........

Probably not quite as bad as Bob Hawke, Paul Keating, Julia Jillard or Willy Shorten, but not far behind..

And now we hear the fed gov will be repaying people because of the failed robdebt scam which they had employed for years.
Going by the reports today, over 470 thousand people have been robbed by the government. I must be the only stupid person whom thinks scamming is against the law!
Being treasurer in 2016 and social services minister before then, Scott Morrison joined a long line of federal ministers, who believed in the promise of automated welfare debt recovery.

They wanted to believe it saved the fed govt money, not once did anybody satisfy themselves of the system's reliability and integrity!
Now the govt have the outstanding 721 million they need to repay.
Campbell, Porter, Roberts and others have some serious questions to be answering.
And if heads don't roll, why bloody not!!
