Yep...agree on the next election...and also think the Libs followed Labor's lead and made it tougher to turf out a current leader to avoid the chaos of the last 10 years.

Stand the Test wrote: Ok if you hate the alp and love the libs no worries but this is not some amazing failure or amazing win. The lib vote totally bottomed out at the last election it would seem. Scomo did slightly, slightly better than Turnbull. The electorate who hated shorten in 2016 hated him again. There was no epic fail or win here, just a repeat of 2016 which looks a bit different cos we were stupid enough to believe the papers about what was going to happen when we really should have known better. There is no big story here Bazza. What if papers had said scomo to win easy, they’d now he saying he limped over the line. The whole discussion is being dominated by press generated expectations and now spin on them getting it wrong. Nothing to see here Baz.

Give me a break, just a few months after the leadership change the Libs were 10 points behind on the 2PP, and the bookies had them at unbackable faves to win, even paying out early, Shorten and Bowen were acting like they had it in the bag, well they should of, at those odds how could you mess it up beating a 6 year Lib Gov with 3 PMs in minority. well they stuffed it up.

This election was an EPIC FAIL for Labor given the calamitous goings on within the coalition over the last 12 months leading up to the election. First there was Barnaby's infidelity put on display for all to see resulting in Turnbull condemning him and slapping a hanky panky ban on all MP's in Canberra.

Then the clumsy dumping of Turnbull and it must be remembered this is the bloke who forced a previously ELECTED PM out of his job. Then there was the Peter Dutton Swedish or French Au-pair approval for one of AFL chief Gillon McLachlan's mates or relatives and then the withdrawl of was it one or two or three Liberal MP's in protest about being bullied in the ballot that decided who was going to step into Malcom Turnbulls shoes. All this was reflected in the polls that our good friend Swan42 kept reminding us on a daily basis and sometimes 2 or 3 times a day, that labor held a lead by as much as 53 - 47 I think it got out to, maybe greater.

So without a doubt this was Labors election to lose and that they did. So cocky were they that Chris Bowen said in response to the franking credit policy they would take to the election along with abolishing negative gearing he said "If you don't like our policies don't vote for us" several months out from the election. Lol has a Labor MP ever said anything more clearer?

This win was of Donald Trump proportions and the Don himself agreed jumping on Twitter and starting with the word WOW!! LOL

Beautifully articulated DD...and you can also throw in other speed bumps in the lead up such as the Libs losing the Wentworth by-election to Phelps six months out, Julie Bishop announcing her departure, Julia Banks spitting the dummy and defecting to the crossers, unemployment on the bounce...Christ how in the hell did Labor lose?

Yep it couldn't have worked out better BC. What message does that send to these WANNABE'S who defect at the drop of a hat, Julie Bishop could still be deputy Liberal leader and a front bencher in government. She is putting on that fake smile isn't she? Did Julia Banks lose her seat ? But it was Gold seeing Phelps lose Wentworth after being helped by Turnbulls brat son to win the by-election, help pass the medi-vac bill through then get dumped.

Goes to show Australians aren't as dumb as some MP WANNABE'S think we are. Alan Jones nailed it this morning on Sky News. "Labor just belongs to the Cafe Soy Latte set and i know Scott Morrison is going to govern for the quiet Australians."

Yeah, I thought the negative gearing policy was a dud, it was dreamed up at a time Sydney houses prices were rocketing and it was bad policy anyway, it would of created about three classes of property tax wise, New with NG, Old that still had NG and Old that had none. If they really wanted to have tax grab on property just put a ceiling on the capital write off all NG claims, say a max of 100K PA.

Bazza and the gang, surely you are not seriously suggesting scomo went in with bigger problems than Turnbull in 2016. In 2016 half of Turnbull ‘s own party hated his guts!! Scomo got about same number of seats leading a totally united party. You really are scraping around with national party nonsense to build this up as a miracle. I mean he won good on him but only if you believe the papers and their nonsense was it a miracle. It was really same same guys.

STT if you weren't so knowledgeable about Perth and the WAFL I would swear you are Malcom's brat son. Any relation? Lol

They had SILLY WILLY. Why would he announce he was going to stop negative gearing & Tax credits for retirees.
Not very intelligent Willy. Just win the election & introduce it a year later..
Anyway congratulations Bill for getting rid of Abbott.
