Even if we did, even if we had the most expensive power in the world, if we closed down every single power station in the country and you powered your house with push bike swan and had candles instead of electric lights, gave up on TV and Foxtel and walked to every Swans game instead of burning petrol and we all did the same , it would not make 1 iota of difference to world wide emissions and global warming,

The above is a specious argument. We in Australia do not live in isolation: what we do and what other countries has an impact on the other. Collectively there is a positive impact if we and other countries reduce our CO2 emissions. The corollary is that all countries did nothing, then there is a negative impact.

The sector that is most immediately impacted is the rural sector and the party that purports to represent the rural sector should be the party LEADING in the process of reducing emissions. Instead what do they have is people like Joyce who doesn't care.

MMM politics, a rarely interesting subject for me but politicians represent the collective agenda, same as the Borg in Star Trek. They neither trustworthy or representative of their constituents but we blindly elect based on the traditional party process. I do not believe in the small boutique parties because they are even more agenda focus.

who do they represent certainly not you or me!

Its not specious, its fact we make up a total of 1% of global emissions, zilch bugger all impact...btw Swan you do know that what ever China India and the rest of the world actually moves around , they affect us not the other way around, btw we export Billions of dollars of coal to India and China to burn that employs 1000s of people yet at the same time want to implement to stupid pointless target ,,,,the whole things a joke,,if we were really serious we would close down ever coal mine every LNG plant and even Iron Ore mine ( that needs to be smelted by coal to make steel) ,,how do you reckon that would go down??? ffs the whole things the biggest load of pointless hypercritical rubbish out.

BTW If I had my way we would of had Nuclear Power 20 years ago.

Never donkeyed, just look at the individuals involved and then decide, last fed one I voted for Dr Aly cos she seemed to be the most honest and true to her values, but it is very difficult to find those traits.

So if 30 countries with similar emissions as Australia it would be 31% reducing their emissions. The vast consensus of scientists qualified in the science believe that humans are involved in impacting on our climate. On that basis we should be invested in R&D heavily for not only our environment but for our economic health of this country as well.

But no what do we have those who choose to not to take advice form those qualified we hear the trite well it has been hotter and colder previously. That it is cyclical in nature. What wasn't the case was the number of people on the planet that we have now and what the impact will be if we have a significant rise in sea levels and drier and hotter summers.

As I said the party that should be the most strident and vocal supporters of reducing CO2 emissions should be the National Party.
