It seems the Mayor of Yarra Daniel Nguyen and his Council do not necessarily share the sentiments of the Subject Topic!

"The Yarra City Council has taken another step towards no longer recognising Australia Day by asking staff to stop using the term while at work.
The inner-north Melbourne council released a briefing to its 1000 employees on January 15 detailing the new approach. Employees were directed to refer to the day as the "January 26 public holiday" when at work and speaking to the public.
The missive follows the council's unanimous vote in August last year to no longer mark Australia Day on January 26 and support the movement to change the date"

These councils need to stop playing politics and start focusing on their core business being the provision of services to ratepayers. It's sheer arrogance that the likes of Yarra and Freo think they know better than the majority of Australians who support the 26th and their elected pollies both state and federal...sack the pricks.
