What the hell is going on at Subi oval in recent times seems to be getting a rep as a troublesome venue.

cant see what all the fuss is about. if someone doesn't want a mosque in their neighbourhood then they should be allowed to say so. a footy oval is probably not the right venue but so what?

Totally agree about free speech but it's not the place to do it there must be a total separation of sport and politics and there should be a total divide between religion and politics. these guys have done there cause no favors by this childish stunt

I think the media need to take some responsibility here. By parading the banner on the news they have played into the hands of these idiots who just want the publicity. If anyone puts a political banner up at the footy it should just be quietly taken down and the owners ejected onto the street where they can continue their protest if they wish.

I guess when the AFL mandated prayer rooms at all venues in response to a request from Bashir Houli they inadvertently provided a platform for stunts like the one last weekend. That alone is like a red rag to a bull for some of the more extreme anti-multicultural groups out there.

Afl gets political when it suits them Reconcilation Round Harmony Round Women's Lib Round you name it round and the political message is there

Your right BC If there's not a Catholic Chapel in the new stadium I won't be happy how can a bloke say his rosary at half time , they used to say Archbishop Mannix offered High Mass every Sunday for Collingwood sport and politics and religion have been mixed for a long time , Subi were the Catholic Club for a long time Brian Singleron QC was proud of the fact , we had a good chat about it one night in Kal top night top bloke.

yep...the AFL gets around it by saying it's a prayer room open to all denominations but its my understanding only a handful of people have used any of them and they were all Muslim. I don't have a problem with it personally as it's not hurting anyone but as soon as the AFL starts mixing religion with sport by providing places to pray then in a democracy they leave themselves open to opposing views.

I have a problem with it, its something totally
alien to our culture, in Malaysia fine , but not here.
