I don't know how it started but it seems like a lot of things it has developed a life of its own.

My opinion is that Goodes stepped outside of the football and made himself a target for some in the crowd when he started to be an advocate for indigenous issues. He made comments and became Australian of the Year which then gave him a bigger platform and sadly a bigger target on his back.

Rightly or not when you open yourself to criticism then you will get it and when some folk cannot differentiate between football and outside issues you get morons. It is not a WCE issue but all clubs are part of the issue.

As for Jetta it was great to see a bit of standing up for a mate, it is what ALL Australians do but he now makes himself a target and I hope he is strong enough to deal with it!

Unfortunately every footy club has a certain percentage of morons in their ranks. Booing is the most intellectual thing these people can do to sustain an argument.

The common man doesn't always have the ability to offer opinions to a player on a sporting field with 40,000 (give or take)others in attendance other than cheering or booing.

The challenge players have who make any statement to the 'en mass' is that they'll receive 'en mass' reply - and its not always pretty

A single player due to his taking up the entire screen of a national TV program for those 15 seconds of fame or infamy will need to think hard on the outcomes of the statement, and not possibly make it in the heat of a moment.
Making a stand with a mate I applaud, and agree with as its the Ozzy way - inciting a crowd I still see as problomatic

Well put. The lovely off set to this story is that dill Gillon says "it must stop now!", shows ya how far detached from reality he is, it will only make the average punter even more determined too BOO. Average punters out there "hate" aything that comes out of the mouths from the boffins who run the game!!

interesting to see all the media commentary suggesting the booing of Goodes is racially motivated. i don't believe that is right at all. i think its because most consider him a dickhe*d me included. jobe watson copped it as well during the supplements saga so i think its just an expression of peoples attitudes towards a particular individual. do i think its fair enough?...no i dont and suggest its well and truly time to stop....but that's just my opinion and if people want to boo then they've paid their entrance money and its up to them.

Brent Harvey gets booed all the time, especially here in WA.
Why doesn't the AFL or the media say anything about that?
Would it be because he is merely a white player who isn't as significant as a black player? Not that anyone in the media would ever have the guts to just put it as blankly as that. That would be flying too close the sun.

The basic facts are this is an over-the-top charade created by the dick brains in journalism. Throw the pallets out for the chooks and they will take them by the bag full. A total load of horse shite.

1) If he was playing in the EPL, or any comp with balls Jetta would have been fined and disciplined for inciting the crowd with his actions. That was a crap response and he should be told as such from his coach.

2) As for this war dance, well its not a cultural thing, its a dance made up by a group of kids who are just 16. That's not cultural, its something Goode's thought would be fun to do at the aboriginal academy

3) My last point, when the Kiwi's do the Haka, they do it at the opposition, which is what the Haka was designed for, it was to try to intimidate people attending the islands for the first time. Now when the all blacks do a Haka, they do it towards the opposition players, not the crowd.

So effectively Jetta has done something that cant be classed as cultural to aboriginals, so what was he trying to do, stir the crowd or what? At the end of the day if you try to stir the crowd all they can do is boo or cheer.

Happy to hear others thoughts, these are just my thoughts, and im definitely not racist, some of my best mates are aboriginal, and not of Australia decent.

I think you're on the money PH. We are now at a point where the minorities can do or say what they want, but if I do or say the same I'm a friggin racist - fmd! Like you PH, I have had some brilliant aboriginal and ethnic mates over my many years. These were guys that were always welcome not only in my home, but in my life as close mates.

Racism is alive and well in this country. You can't call people apes and tell them to head back to the zoo. The white man in this country doesn't like it when the black man has a voice or thinks he is an equal.
