It's all starting to unravel for McClown and Cooked. They came out on Monday with chests puffed out and were patting themselves on the back for a great job they've done so much so they'll now let us out of here on 5 February. What they conveniently forgot to mention was there's been a net loss of some 500 nurses in the last several months which no doubt will put even more pressure on our beleaguered public health system when Covid hits. Thanks for nothing you pair of buffoons.

Ok BC I understand that the Worst only ever tells the whole story is factual in it's reporting but 500 out of a workforce of 50k (quote from their own piece) is what % turnover. When I was a HR manager in the APS we were happy if it was less than 5%. Of the resignations 713 were on permanent contract the others where either fixed or casual both of which aren't usually counted in a turnover as their departure is usually accounted for in a staffing model or plan. 

So given the quoted increase in staff over and above this number (again quoted in the article) the nett number of permanent staff lost is somewhere abt 250 but hey we can still run with the banner of the worst cos it has to be accurate!

And no I am not defending Crook but if we are going to bag folk then at least take the sensationalism out of it!

I guess my point is that Cook and McGowan have no problems spruiking additional health funding but the reality is staffing levels are going backwards at a time when they've had 2 years to get the system ready for Feb 5.

Agreed BC and I will resist the temptation to roll out history, they could have and should have done better.

Obviously no friend or foe of Cook and McGowan - but really can't see how they can be blamed for the inherited poor staffing levels of the WA health system. It's been farked, under staffed for years...not merely two....more like 20. In the last two years world toing and froing has been curtailed thus negating health staff recruitment......staff are burnt out - COVID has merely tipped them over, non health people simply don't see it when they present to ED or hospitals, they don't see the nurse or doctor running on empty, all they are worried about is that there is someone to see to their concerns - it's the blinker syndrome. But this isn't a WA problem its a world wide issue, Doctors and Nurses are in a world wide shortage, yeah feel free to recruit from the Sub continent , but honestly isn't that raping a vulnerable Peter to pay Paul? I blame the ongoing head in the sand attitude from past governments for COVID tipping of WA's current Health failings....its been a slow burn for decades, which has been managed with a bandaid…..COVID has changed all that and the bandaid is well n truly off.....and it's just not happening in WA, it's NZ, UK etc.....
