Marky Mark could open a bar in Rockingham that makes kebabs. The motto would be Come and have a pint and a kebab with Mark. Not sure Mark’s ever “had a real job” before which he accused Kockup of never having. What did Mark do besides being a navy lawyer and a politician?

I'd love to see ex-politicians go into small business after they retire rather than big business. Then the fuckers would find out what its like to have to make your own dollars, pay a shitload of tax, employ people and worry about the myriad business regulations and red tape that is the bane of every business owner.

You probably got a point Baz but good luck attracting people into politics if they can’t get a job in private enterprise after retiring from politics. Alan Carpenter went to work for Wesfarmers I believe after losing the election as Premier. What’s Colin been up to since losing the election to McGowan? He’s flown under the radar a bit.

Colin’s probably had most of his time taken up trying to bail his son out and keep him this side of the fence

You wont get that with Mark McGhoo he is one of the few Pollies left on the rolled gold  pollies pension for life, he picks up 60% of his current wage for life after he leaves non means tested non asset tested about $280K  PA - an ideal top up for his $350K a year seat on the Rio board in a few years while him and Wyatt sit back and take a good laugh at mugs like you and me and you and anyone running a small business.

I remember when most of the country party ( Nats ) were farmers - actually small business owners had a good idea of the crap you had to go through year to year to run the show and keep food on the table as well people like Wilson Tuckey who was a Carnarvon Publican and all the BS red tape.

More shonky deals on the horizon.

We learn that a committee is now looking at taking over St Johns Ambulance service, the committee headed up by none other than the former head of United Voice union.

And now the sale of the former South Fremantle Power Station site, 10 DAY tender process - have you ever heard of that before? and word is FINI Group have already got a bid in.

Yep...I get the bit about the South Freo power station being heritage listed which will present challenges for the developer but it's situated on 6 hectares of prime coastal land which would be worth millions if subdivided. Surely this government is not going to give the whole thing away for next to nothing.

The 10 day tender is obviously a rort, enormous amount of time needed to investigate the site, which was full of asbestos, but apparently now cleaned, structural assessments and finding what would be permitted on this wonderful beachfront site, then compiling a feasibilty study of what can be done and at what cost, 10 days is rediculous. Its a classic piece of that eras industrial architecture and hopefully there are some reasonable controls around protecting the structure. A resort hotel but also including a decent component of public assess facilities, shops cafes, theatres, plenty of landscaped open space would be the go, a balance of private and public spaces and a very high bar set for sustainability within the project.

This redevelopment has been a very long time coming, so to start it off in this way is very suss.

I can see it from the top floor of my place and it's a commanding building in a prime position. To give it away for $1 or something similar is just ridiculous. Our good friend 42 bangs on about the NSW govt buying a piece of land for $30m which apparently was only worth $3m as being a hanging offence...well this scenario is not much better.
