How is him joining the Woodside board contrary to his reason for quitting politics?

Because it wasnt the reason he gave for leaving.

We all knew he had a corporate gig lined  up.

And now today he also announces he will be on the Rio Board....

Sounds like the family time is goner be seriously curtailed.

He said he was quitting politics Baz, not quitting work. A couple of cushy board spots would be a lot less demanding than being treasurer.

Always makes one laugh when they make the excuse of leaving politics "to spend more time with the family". 

I can't see the problem personally. He did his time in politics and now chooses to do something else. Good for him I say.

One also wonders what deals went on while he was treasurer to pave the way direct to the board.

Yes it was a bit rich of Shorten if you'll excuse the pun as between him and his missus, they're worth a couple of hundred million.

Pretty sure he will have more time for family working at the level in private enterprise but would bow to the greater knowledge of those in the coastal suburbs.

I always wonder at folks conspiracy theories especially abt deeds done before leaving office which would only happen with the left side of the chamber.
