Yes agreed Bazza. At the time I questioned the decision of both major WA political parties of why the day was given a name change? The majority of people are still against changing it from Foundation Day.

From what I've seen anchorman, no it is not. Written on the fixtures sheet is wa day and on the wafl website is written wa day too. Which is a bit of a bugger!

Looks like the predicted down turn in attendances has occurred, only about 4000 and both the big foundation day derbies, very disappointing.,,but expected.

Personally I would rather they played on the Monday. Just didn't feel the same, the fixture has lost it's lustre I'm afraid..

Agree Bazza Foundation Day has a bit more oomph in it.. Dont even like the name WA DAY.
And the Derbies should be played on Foundation day.. Did they have referendum on this. Cant remember..Did they ask the Clubs? Maybe as the WEAGLES were playing on the Monday when they should of played on Saturday or Sunday.. The day is only a public holiday in WA so why not..??? Lots of questions as usual no answers

I am really pissed off they changed the na e, they are trying. Write our pioneering fathers out of history, with all this political correctness , no one is paying tribute to the states founders who built the state from the ground up..it's total b s.

The ABC broadcast of the WP v TFKNAEP game today gave the Freo Derby official crowd as something over 7000. I guess 1800 at Claremont wasnt too bad. There was about 6 Claremont supporters in the outer.

Wafl website has the freo derby crowd at 5100. Playing the match on Sunday was probably the right idea to avoid clashing with the eag's. the poor turn out might be due to most people expecting bottom of the ladder south to be spanked.
