Dan Andrews Victoria will go down as Australia weakest link in Covid history.

Infection and death rates that blow every other states away, massive rolling lock downs, economic wrecking ball that will drag the national economy for years, only a 44% reduction in dole payments, while WA stands at 70%, repeated Quarantine failures despite spending $57 Million on a whitewash inquiry...

Cannot see how Andrews can maintain his leadership much longer.

Only mid last week Andrews was telling everyone Vic was the "gold standard" for hotel quarantine in the country too?

Why what's he done now? We know there were mistakes that lead to the first lockdown and huge numbers but I don't see what they've done wrong this time, they have just been unlucky. We were incredibly lucky here this guy didn't spread it but apparently he is still testing positive well past the 14 day iso period and he is still in isolation.

We just got lucky, Victoria were not so lucky and what's happened there would quite easily have happened here. But of course people will still kiss McGoo on the cock and tell him what a magnificent job he is doing while giving him a get out of jail free card overlooking the fact he was asleep at the wheel not making it mandatory for all hotel workers to wear masks at all time while on duty and not allowing them to hold a second job.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing to have, just imagine realising that a security guard needs two (or more) jobs to make ends meet, just imagine knowing that such a transient workforce would move around the 'burbs without understanding the consequences and imagine knowing that using hotels would be a recipe for a disaster when they are perfectly good commonwealth facilities to do the same task but with built in security facilities too boot.

It is really easy to use hindsight but when comes down to it this has been a huge learning curve for everyone, in every state but the centralised government who should have taken the lead on many facets of the process.

I just wish I hadn't sold my posiedin shares when they hit a dollar, or sold my 72'superbug VW or got rid of EH with the 186 in it but hey I learnt some valuable lessons.

Considering Vic were not even taking back in returning International travellers (the actual one's that are bringing Covid into the country) for nearly 6 months last year (after their major stuff up that resulted in to a 2nd lockdown for months on end) that all the other States had to carry the can for them, I think we can all thank our luck for their self proclaimed "gold standard" procedures!

Pretty sure Australia isn't the only place with their COVID clowns....NZ has their fair share of them....some of those concerns you guys are expressing are similar to concerns being expressed over in NZ...yeah NZ has lived with more freedom than elsewhere...but Adhern has stuffed up too, just lucky NZ dynamics are far different to Victoria.

As someone who swabs ad hoc in a few of the Quarantine hotels here in Christchurch, the places are chocca block with returning punters, staff are knackered and running low on numbers and energy, morale is very low....quite surprised more breaches/mistakes haven't occurred here in NZ....thank fark I only swab every now and then, wouldn't want to work in them full time...not getting paid anywhere near enough for the abuse one gets....like working in ED, every punter thinks they are the only punter in the place, and their agendas are far more important then anyone/everyone else's....

only comparison on a failure for failure basis is the potato clown in NSW - both of those two gold class leaders ????

Freeze, well done to you for doing what must be an arduous and thankless job by all accounts. Frontliners like yourself deserve whatever accolades you can get. I guess your front of the queue for the jab, I hope so as it's you people who are placing yourselves in harms way and putting others first.

Not the NT leader that re opened first
Not Tassie that contained an early outbreak with limited resources
Not NSW that contained out breaks, with a bigger population and kept the economy going.
Not SA that bordered Vic but managed to keep numbers low and reopened early
Not WA that has been largely restriction free for months.

Well zero new cases in Victoria today so I'd say for all the shit Andrews cops he's been vindicated. They had it much worse than us here so he was fully justified in going into a 5 day lockdown which looks like being lifted today.
