How much worse would it be if Barnett's mob hadn't built FSH and started PCH? Shit we'd have a third world health system.
That's probably true - but we had a multitude of design & material flaws at FSH that wasted a year & god knows how much money to fix mate
It may have contributed to this mess but again both parties could have done better and we need Federal funding that always seems available to NSW & Victoria for health systems
Christ the GST return helps this materialise and guess who gets the biggest slices under the old system???

Don;t know too many projects as big and as complex as FSH that finish on time and on budget mate.  1 year behind scehdule is probably a got return tbh Think the Collins class Subs.

Currently the Claremont Station upgrade is uderway with new track turnbacks , was supposed to done by  Easter but is already a month behind.

And how did Chevron on Barrow island go??

we have a lot of unions here who have an interest in dragging jobs on.

As for the Federation and funding, been like that since 1901, buddy only one way to fix that.

it's just not right to put the entire blame on one of the parties mate - both of them have had their flaws and their shortcomings in various projects
We all know more impetus is required on the health and care sector and has been for many years particularly when the population has increased in WA , we probably have to look at Mining Royalties closer too

Another stunning outcome of this election is the wipeout of the Greens. It looks like their one remaining hope in Brad Pettit could now miss out on the last spot from South Metropolitan.

How to interpret this? A repudiation of Greens policy or tsumanied by the red wave?

It’s against trend elsewhere and Federally where the Greens are increasingly threatening Labor. Bandt seems to believe the Greens can hold balance of power for a minority government after the next election with SloMo sagging and the Federal ALP flagging.

Without trying to put Antony Green out of a job, my analysis of the situation with respect to the greens in the LC is that due to the extraordinarily high primary vote of Labor, Labor achieved more quotas than previously.  Thus, the votes flowing to the Greens is lower than in previous elections.  Hence, the relatively poor performance by the Greens in the LC.  In the 2021 election in the LC the Greens primary count is 82,305 in 2017 their count was 116,041.  Labor's primary count in 2021 and 2017 were 849,160  and 544,938 respectively.

That certainly was a massive turn around, for Pettit to miss out and the Greens to be wiped out is a disaster for them,  good riddance I say, after his years of building greens credientials in as Mayor of Fremantle openly lieing to people saying he was never a Green and then falling utterly flat and ending up with zero. The down side is he will return to mayor of Fremantle and shaft the joint more.

I see it like this -  Tidal wave of Red - The left wing vote went all with way with Labor, they essentially reclaimed the Green vote that was Labor before the Greens existed, The Greens have been totally invisible during the Pandemic - a complete irrellevance, so they could never get any oxygen, Big Greens ticket items - Environmental issues have not been front and center for a year or so, refugees are a non issue, not much for them to campaign on.

Another thing is a portion of wacko Green vote would of voted for the Anti Vax. nutters, I think they picked up around 15,000 votes.

Federally, I'm not sure, Albotros is from the Left trying to reclaim them from his inner city identity politics creds, It might work in Victoria, outside of that I doubt it.

Yes, Bolte goes on about the subs.,and he is right

Ark, Its Collins class all over again Beazleys crazed idea to built untested designs here - these French Subs - its going to be a nightmarish financial black hole, buying a nuke hull then fitting them with a diesel engine based on battery tech that doesnt even exist at them moment, they will be museum pieces by 2030.

Then theres the F35 fiasco, its becoming more and more obvious they just wont have the capability promised.

For the record which side of politics signed the contract for the French subs and in what year?  Also, when is the first sub scheduled to be in operation?

Baz: subs should have been banned as 'the weapon of the weak', when the Admiralty called for it in 1919. What amazes me most, is Canberra's apparent view, that there will be no major war for decades. Ideally, we should have nuclear boats, but as you know, it is not possible for political reasons; in that cae, i would buy the conventional version off the French, jobs in Adelaide should not be the priority of a defence programme.

The only sub worth having is a nuclear powered one, no point buying diesel museum pieces now.

If they really insisted. then a proven diesel like the Japanese or UK models directly off the shelf and constructed ready to go , not some over priced work for the dole scheme in Adelaide the comprises your whole defence planning. You would of thought they had learnt from the shambolic collins class fiasco, 10 years late and billions over priced and ended up being filled in with old Oberon class as they we more reliable. We were supposed to have 8 , but it proved so expensive that only 6 got delivered and we only every have 2 operational.

It would be nice to have a dose of reality at some stage in the analysis of the current status.  Let me point out that in the last 25 years there have been federal LNP governments for approximately 19 years and Labor governments for approximately 6 years.  And for another dose of reality, the current submarine contract is a result of a LNP government's attempt to save some LNP held seats in SA.
