This is an absolute disgrace and Mr McGoo and Minister Cook need to be called out. There is no covid emergency in WA so why is this happening? From The West.

"WA’s health system has reached an unprecedented breaking point, with two of Perth’s major hospitals declaring a code yellow, unable to take in all patients who present to their emergency departments.

Patients presenting with life-threatening injuries are still being treated by hospital staff.

Australian Medical Association WA president Andrew Miller said Royal Perth and Sir Charles Gairdner hospitals had declared code yellow internal emergencies — with Murdoch’s Fiona Stanley Hospital nearing the code yellow threshold.

“The situation in emergency departments in WA is dire at the moment with two of our major hospitals being on code yellow, which means internal emergency,” Dr Miller said.

“For a number of days they’ve been gridlocked and patients who are having the most intense form of care in emergency departments — resuscitation care — are being looked after in corridors.”

Agree BC. Sneakers has been sheltering away under the Covid WA v the rest BS, while the States services fall into crisis. with little or no attention. Voters must be covid hypnotised.

The Health system is in total crisis with ramping,

Other systems like the courts have massive wait lists, labor and local MP Tony Butti promised a new court house in Armadale three years ago, not a single brick has been laid. Fremantle police station is still stuck in an old bank after having its car fire bombed a year or so ago.

Other very concerning things are the dodgy developments, the latest being the Swanbourne Train Station plan that was delibratley kept quiet before the state election, Saffiotti knew about it for months before the election and it was never disclosed, and of course it turns out the developer was a major labor donor.

well it was actually the Liberal Government that set up Stanley but better funding ASAP is necessary of course - what we have is better than Victoria at the moment
Every health system across the land is in urgent need of Federal funding in addition to the local lot
To me - Mining royalties need to be directed to that more pointedly as well
Can't blame just one person or party here on this one both of them are in it

Disagree there Southy. In 2017 McGowan and co campaigned long and hard against the Barnett government on ramping and now it's twice as bad as back then and yet not a yelp from the adoring press. Call it out for what it is I say.

I think we all know it requires urgent funding including Federal mate - and it was obviously in a worse state than originally anticipated
Both parties have to wear any finger points here - we need upgrades and have for years
that ridiculous pair of Liberal monuments on the barrack street jetty area could have seen coin directed at health too if we are honest

How much worse would it be if Barnett's mob hadn't built FSH and started PCH? Shit we'd have a third world health system.

The Pot party look like gaining a seat, Liam Bartlett got her on, asked her about her policies, she had none bar legal pot, she sounded half stoned anyway.

First thing Sneakers needs to do with all this power is scrap the preference whispering and ensure clowns with a handfull of votes cant scam seats with reward fees paid to whisperer.
Antony Green thinks that there should be some reform in that area.  Of course, reform of the Legislative Council would need to redress the imbalance between country and metro regions as well.

Regional WA deserves a voice in the upper house.

Otherwise does that also mean WA and Tasmania should lose its equal say in the federal senate compared to NSW and Vic?

The principal is the same.
That is a non sequitur; the principle is not the same.  The primary difference is that one is intrastate as opposed to interstate.  There was no suggestion that there should be no regional representation.  However, there needs to be a reduction of the weighting in rural regions.  On present figures the Nationals have received under half the votes the Greens in the Legislative Council but are projected to win 2 upper house seats compared to the Greens possible 1.

It should be noted that Labor for first time ever in the history of the Legislative Council has won a majority there.

The Labor Party was on track to win the 2021 state election prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Let's revisit the 2017 election result.  In that election there was a swing to the Labor Party of over 9%.  In that same election the Liberals had a swing of over 15% against it.  Labor won an extra 20 seats, the Liberals and Nationals lost 18 and 2 seats respectively.

What's that got to do with the current state of our health system other than to show Mr McGoo and his mates have squandered an opportunity to revamp it over the last 4 years? FMD they've done precious little else over that time other than closing our borders. Even your precious Ellenbrook line hasn't seen one meter of track laid in 4 years.

Get back to me in February, 2025 and I will willingly discuss both the state of the development of Metronet and the WA health system.
