Well McGowan played cool and missed a once in a life time opportunity to to get the AFL GF, despite Optus being bigger and better than the Gabba, and in a footy state, to be make it worse SA came in second with WA 3rd.

Then there's the AFL itself, if ever there was a example of its total disinterest in WA then that's it.

To make it worse the AFL have just rewarded Victoria by extending the MCG rights to host the GF.

Optus in mothballs for months now.

I'm sure it came down to how easily or otherwise each states border crossing restrictions were and as has been the case, WA are not prepared to compromise on their border protection. I for one sup[port that. You can imagine the feral Vicco club supporters (if a Vic team makes it which is very likely) looking at any and all devious unlawful methods of breaking WA's border protection and no doubt some would be carrying the virus. So good luck to Qld in hosting this shambolic compromised trainwreck of a season's GF, they are welcome to it. I like the vast majority of Australians have the opportunity to watch it on the TV like every other year.

I agree SS...it would have been great to have the GF here but I don't think we should have to sell the farm to do it. It'll be interesting to see if there's a Covid spike in Q'land post the GF.

Cant really see that as the issue, 60K stadium here would of sold out locally, everyone else team related could of come here under the AFL quarantine conditions currently operating.

Instead they will have 25K at a mediocre ground.

What its really about is maintaining the AFL fantasy that they will somehow grow the game and steal Qld off NRL. A complete nonsense, most people in Qld won't give a rats arse, and tbh neither to I , probably wont even bother watching it.

The other thing is 7pm bouncedown EST - that's 5pm Perth time, not ideal.

might be a good thing really - you just know there's going to be an illegal stampede of Victorians and there will be a spread of disease where they end up
then again who cares it's a sick shitty version of football

Bazza its a fantastic start time, spend the day watching the Caulfield cup and the races at Ascot, and then switch over to the footy.

Hopefully everyone will have made some good coin on the races and be able to have fun with some of the exotic bets available on GF day

Wa+Sa have helped keep the season going. But Queensland has done most the the heavy lifting.I think it's a good decision by the AFL.

I tell you who did do the heavy lifting was the Qld Gov they went hard for it.

Unlike McGowan who was totally disinterested.,
