Latest in the wacko cultural revolution.

A Liquor Store in Melbourne has stopped selling Colonial beers due to its "name".

Get out there and buy some I say.

Interesting that the Melbourne chain (they have 12 stores) leading the charge is named Blackhearts & Sparrows.

Good beer, Colonial - if a little pricey.

Unfortunately, campaigns like this tend to develop a momentum of their own.

Coon Cheese is on the hit list. I've never seen riots in a supermarket around the cheese compartment. It's more a case of oxygen thieves who like to mind other peoples business to give them a sense of importance in life.

Watching footy on the weekend, seeing Luke Beverage in his after match presser with White King logos plastered on the advertising board behind him. I wonder how long it will take for that company to be in the firing line?

Might have 12 shops, but basically minnows, Colonial are stocked at Dan Murphys and BWS.

Sadly you are right about the momentum thing...out woke the woke and do the guilt trip....

I like the name as its brews hark back to the more orginal beer styles like Porters popular in colonial times.

Changing the name of anything because someone is offended. Is complete madness ,we all don't agree on a number of things.Just like vandalism on any public stateues. Looks like an attack on free speech and freedom of choice.

Colonial Mutual must in the sights as well as CSR, AC/DC will need to change their album name from "Back in Black" All Black Sabath albums will need to be taken off playlists ......... FMD when will someone of substance make a stand against these PC idiots who now feel so empowered and above the law they can do what they want without respecting or tolerating any other POV. Sounds like 1984 to me.

I think the Colonial brewing guy was quite smart in getting on the front foot and saying they are considering a name change. It's one pissant retailer wanting to big note so they will probably just sit tight till this bullshit subsides as we all should, these professional protesters will get bored and move onto some other cause that gives them a hard on.

I don't wish to veer off topic, but one couldn't make this stuff up if one tried!
The poor old breakfast cereal Coco Pops and Rice Bubbles is now in the firing line.
No I'm not kidding!

The latest is Penny Lane in Liverpool UK.Most will know that name from the Beatles song.
The Pc brigade claim Penny Lane was a slave trader in the 17th century. Liverpool local government claim it was a penny paid to cross a newly made bridge.200 years ago and so does the Beatles lyrics to the song.

From wag's link above:

Saputo Dairy Australia says Coon was named in recognition of “the work of an American, Edward William Coon, who patented a unique ripening process that was used to manufacture the original Coon cheese
