If Ballantyne thinks he's not done yet in AFL he's dreaming and Fremantle are not serious about a rebuild if they give him a farewell game. He is lucky to be on an AFL list this year IMO. Sandilands on the other hand should be offered another contract because he is still a beast and still good enough. If we say to Sandi I think it's time you retired I've got no doubt some club like Geelong will offer him a 2 year deal because forever the optimists Geelong think they are in a premiership window year in year out and they feel they have to give Dangerfield the success he craves.

DD...I agree with you that big Sandi is playing good enough footy to go around again next year if they can keep him on the park. He's been pretty solid the last couple of weeks and Darcy is still a work in progress. Ballantyne on the other hand is done and dusted and no other AFL club would come near him imo.

Given their recruitment history, wouldn't Ballantyne have a reasonable chance of being picked up by the Dockers?

Don't tell Smart at Swans that Ballantyne is avavialble.
He will be over there straight away with a up front payment like Crowley,Newman,Simpson but couldn't find any $$ for Boekhurst

Half the question has been answered, with Sandi pulling the pin - on his own terms: :)

Aaron Sandilands retires from Fremantle Dockers as fans prepare to farewell AFL ruck veteran

I imagine the other little turd will need to be shown the door, kicking and screaming.

That is a great shame as I had no doubt he still had much to offer but it's his body and his life. Well played big fella we are going to miss you and thank you for your dedication to the Fremantle Dockers.

I know a wafl club in desperate need of a ruckman.
Maybe the slower pace less physical and fewer nights training may appeal.

If he’s going to go another season, go back to your roots Sandi.

You'd think he'd take on a ruck coaching role at Freo so I'd be surprised if he played WAFL for anyone.

The problem is though WAFL is not much easier the body or the time you have to put in. It is a great shame they don't get paid $1000 minimum for a game and Stars like Sandi $50k a year to play WAFL for a while
Victorians still laugh at West Aussies because of the way we bailed out the vfl and then allowed it to be called it the AFL!
