Had a good laugh when I read Lyons press conference transcript. In the last 3 weeks they have lost to 2 teams in the bottom 4 including Carlton without their best player and then got turned over by 91 points in a derby but apparently it is business as usual and there is nothing to get concerned about. All I can say to that is I would like to have some of whatever he is smoking!

It must surely occur to Lyon that his game plan is largely to blame for Freo's demise. They have no idea how to transition the ball into their forward 50 and the inside 50 count from last night confirms that when you compare it to the return they got. Whomever is Freo's forward coach needs hanging from the highest tree along with Lyon as they have no system, processes or Plan B in their front half. When the ball carrier see no hit up leads or open space to put the ball into they just bomb it in and last night against two of the best intercept marks in the comp, they were hammered. Freo's forwards need to work together to create space and to give their mids something to aim at...at present that's just not happening.

It's a shame Sumich didn't stay and Lyon went. Lyon's after match comments signal that he's delusional. He just doesn't get it that Freo lost to the bottom placed team last week and got pumped to the tune of 91 points last night when he says there's no need to panic....and if he trots out the "we're a young group" line again I'll throw something at the TV....FFS...it's a young mans game...every team has its fair share of young players but they don't use them as an excuse every time they lose.

The only good thing to come out of Freo's deplorable game was that the only WA based team with any chance of going deep into September sits a game clear in second spot and had a much needed % boost. They will need a home first final to have any chance of B to B flags.

BC last week Ross was quite smug about the club not “having a blow out”. Correct me if I’m wrong he challenged the press. Well Ross there’s your blow out mate so be careful about what you boast about. If he’s that good at bullshit maybe the former brickie can give him a post AFL coaching career flogging his high end homes.
