At the end of last season club signed D Pearce and Johnson, they were told that they would get a lot of game time, especially Pearce. They were told that they would be used as mentors for the young kids coming through. It has worked out that way.Johnson has stepped in due to injuries down back.
The same will more than likely apply to Ballantyne. He will be used more as a teacher for the young ones than actually playing.

Is that the best bang for your buck or developing culture within your club? Just have a bloke around as a mentor and only use him when he is needed? In my opinion piss Ballantyne off and say strongly to Matera and Co, The small forward role is up for grabs and anyone that shows consistency and performs to team roles / rules gets the job. You might then see some consistency and buy in from your players...This two bob each way crap sends to many mixed messages...

That they will Anchor.. IMO they have not made too many decisions that have been best for the club. But again you can interpret that in whichever way you look at things.

anchorman wrote: Exactly. I have no idea of the running of the club. I am just a follower of the club. But I am sure that regardless , there is no one who deliberately goes out to do damage to the club.
I hear people comment about this one and that one, but, but have no idea as to what they do or don't do.
You may be closer to them than I am , but as I said they don't go out to do harm to the club.

I can assure you I am no closer to the inner workings of the FFC as you Anchor. My only minuscule interest in the club is it’s Fremantle title in name. I live in hope that they one day can live up to the proud strong Fremantle heritage and history forged by the two Fremantle WAFL clubs. Unfortunately I think I will be long gone to see that day..

BC wrote: Yep...I agree Dwert. I take a/man's point that you need to have a few senior blokes around the place to provide leadership for your youngsters but surely the likes of Fyfe, Mundy, Neale, the Hill brothers, Walters, Pearce, Hamlin, Wilson do just that in spades...in fact, I doubt Ballantyne would provide any guidance or leadership as he doesn't come across as that type of guy considering his on-field antics. Times up for Hayden...move him on.

Sounds like Ballantyne and Bennell are getting another year down there, you couldnt make this shite up,,,unbelievable...

All this concern for Freo's welfare is much appreciated. On another add onto Freo's contract renewals, Sandilands has been signed for one more year on a part time playing and full time mentoring for an ongoing period. I think that is a terrific move. David Mundy also signed on for another year, good news also.

Can't find the Sandilands re signing in the media anywhere JB, did you get that from the club directly?

Great to see the captain back for the weekend too. Will be a tough day at the Cattery though.

Would you care to provide a cogent argument to support that assertion?
