Whatever possessed him to do that just after signing a new contract. Total lack of respect for his team mates and the club. Hope he learns from it, hes paid to play football not bullshit an illness just to go surfing. Very disappointing.

Ill advised but not a hanging offence. He may find himself getting an extended break of say 5 games in the WAFL;)

Can we tone down on the hyperbole? Taking a sickie: how "un-Australian".

I think the appropriate punishment would be to banish him to Swans for the rest of this season and 2018.

As the song goes "never let a chance go by". Sure it is not brilliant; but to suggest that he should be punished by going back to Peel for 4 or 5 weeks is far in excess of the "crime".

Now if this topic was about Harley Bennell or Nat Fyfe can you imagine the hysteria? The media who revel in controversy and the Freo haters would have a field day and this topic would be 10 pages long already.

I didn't see him listed in Peels game today so I reckon the club is taking this very seriously. Connor has let his team mates down and the coaches that have put a ton of work into helping him become an established AFL player. I am sure he will learn from this.

More than the fact that he misled the club, he could have injured himself surfing as well. Not a clever thing for him to do. He will be made to earn his place back in the team for sure. Pity because he was really starting to establish himself as a midfielder.

At the end of the day if that is the worse thing he does through his career then I don't think that will be a major consideration. Obviously his brother got most of the brains and he got the better of the footy talent.
