Guys first I have heard of this but I'm at work reading the back of tomorrows paper which on the back page has a story about west Perth breaching last years salary cap by 5k . States that o'dea informed the football commission as soon as he found the error and raponi is quoted as saying "it was a result of an accounting error not a deliberate attempt to rort the salary cap ". As o'dea was the one to approach the WAFC about this situation I hope the ramifications are lighter than if the commission had found a delebrite attempt to rort the system . Maximum penalty being 25k fine and not able to recruit outside of our country and metro districts for two years. In all honesty though even though it's my team I can't see raponi or o'dea having anything to do with this honest mistake by someone .

Not good, but $5k is bugger all and could well be an accounting error. I think 3 other clubs have gone over the cap in the past and no penalties have been handed out so it would be disappointing if that was the case.

Hi Guys, we got done for $10k (that was reduced from $25k on appeal) for a reporting error and we weren't over the salary cap.

So lots of luck.

I wouldn't get too worried. 5k is bigger all in the big scheme of things. Slap on the wrist coming up

Cheers mate. Good positive start for us. A win is a win. You blokes had the result of the round. Top stuff beating west coast royals. Still some life in the WAFL yet!

Another year, another club another breach.

Surely our club adminstrators can audit their books each year to pick up any inconsistencies before they become an issue. It seems the only time its identifed is when their is an administrator or board member change or a player is attempting to transfer to another club!

I still think that 5k is bugger all. Lets be honest.... 217k is only a figure on paper. I bet every club pays well over that at some stage it's just old fashion under the table stuff. Hardly worth much of a penalty in my view

Second offence though, so maybe the WAFC will take a closer look at it.
Wonder if it was the same "office girl" this time that got the blame for the last
...oversight?? Not sure if it's comparable in any way to what happened over at the D's but if so there should be some consistency, but will most likely be brushed away under what is becoming a very lumpy WAFC carpet..

I wouldn't be too worried Cardy fans, Swans got away with paying their players $500,000 over the cap under the table in 2010. I note the other SD boys are a bit quiet on calling the kettle black here!!!!
