Despite what you think about Subiaco, they are a very professional outfit and I would say that majority of their players act professionally outside of the club in a manner that puts them in the best physical condition to perform each week.

In a nutshell and not just the players.

Ffs pressed the wrong button and now what I said has vanished. At least you quoted me Smokey.

Back to the point though it just shits you to tears.

On Spencer White why is his hamstring 8 weeks. Did he do it pretty bad, like off the bone or partially off the bone?

I’ve questioned this before and that’s our pre season training and our rehab and I reckon the coaching now comes into question (yep some of you won’t like that) but it’s there for all to see, forwards going right up the ground meaning we can’t score if we go i50 and where are our defenders when there’s 4 free forwards inside there 50 not one defender in sight to pick them up.
It’s as though the coach has conceded the game before we even run out on the ground,we went through the same style of coaching at the end of McMahons tenure.
Also the same skill errors that existed back then are still there.

Guys this squad is a work in progress (and please save me the 'we've been a work in progress for 40 years' stuff - Burner, Leggett, DBW etc can't help that) and there was very little comparison in terms of experience and skill going into that game - which is why we all knew the way it would turn out.

They got blown away early but really fought it out - a good sign. With a bit more experience and some good players back (and yes some different selections - LD?????) we'll be a completely different side. Hang in there with this group I reckon until I see them giving up!

Not the squad's fault.
They have not been given the resources to compete.
This squad alone will not be the answer.
Don't you get it?
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.
Winning isn't everything. It's the ONLY THING !!!!!!
I shot the fukin sherriff!!!!

This is my take and most of my comments are variations on these themes.

PFC have one arm tied behind its back because of our zone which will alone be unlikely to produce consistent success. The WAFC should be ashamed of themselves for not doing more to equalize the comp.

Then I look at the squad and how it is tracking - that is, is it fulfilling its potential. On that it is hard to know just yet but the positives are that they have a good coach (I listen to him and he still seems to "have" the boys), they try very hard and that they show flashes of it (ie against Peel and at various stages of other games). I am encouraged that they do not give up. I see the talent in the squad and bemoan the injuries and say that this squad added to by good recruiting (and FM is a long time in footy but relatively new to this gig) can have some success (limited by the structural problems associated with zone and lack of equalization measures).

What's your take DF?

Yes the current crop of younger players aren't responsible for the last 40 years of nothing. Most weren't even born.

However because we have been in the wilderness for 40 years we have heard it all before with a promising group of young players coming through and then all of a sudden then either leave the club or we bottom out again.

One thing I'll Earl is that as soon as he came in he said he wanted to play the kids and we have seen players such as Taylor, Ninyette, Byrne and Narrier develop because of this.

This is not Earl's fault but this is something that should have been happened 10-12 years ago or more.

At the start of last season all though we were losing games we were very competitive throughout most of the first 8-9 games. Then the middle of winter hit and as is with younger players they tend to drop away.

I believe that the effort shown so far this season has not been of the same level as it was compared to this time last year.

StT you should be listening to WAFL World on 91.3 Sport FM right now. They are pretty much saying the same things that majority of us haven been saying on here.

If you didn't catch it, I'll put a link up tomorrow for you. :)
