mikeh wrote: What confuses me about this Sutherland Issue is that a fringe reserves player leaves a team that is languishing in 2nd last position on the ladder for a team 3 games clear on the top of the ladder and overwhelming premiership favourites for "more opportunities". That makes absolutely no sense at all, assuming of course he is talking about on field opportunities.

Particularly when their reserves team is doing well also.

It all makes sense if PFC have said they don't rate him, refussing to play him. In that situation, Subi would be his last resort.

If he can't get a game at Perth with no ruckman other than Eyres he won't get one at Subi.
Maybe Subi see another role for him, maybe they see something we don't.

There would already have been a prior very recent clearance paper trail on Sutherland - I think Perth have every right to believe he was still their player , and come on surely the WAFC will see this as a unintentional clerical error & put an appropriately fair fee that recognises it

The only club to have won out of this is WP for two reasons:

they got rid of a player they did not rate
they took Perth's $5,000

And yet whom is complainning about Subiaco over on our thread?

For sure Ark. As you know, Bayens was actually one of our top players, one of our few state team regulars.

Mate sure Ron Bayens was somehow cleared to South Fremantle ( and I think it was 1979 from memory ) he was what ? 29 ? seriously he got his number 26 but was really struggling to run let alone influence a game - didn't last out the season , went and umpired not long after

Mick Johns was playing Reserves football for Subi in 1983 due to the presence of Keene & Scott when Swans picked him up. I do believe Rod Brown & Tom Floyd went the other way too that wasnt mentioned!
