I think I noticed something different to most of you. I noticed a game where our young kids stepped up and gave a real good crack.

Don't blame anyone at the club for poor recruiting this year. In the past 2 years We signed
Brant Colledge
Clem Smith
Tendai Mzungu
Spencer White
Angus Graham (EDIT)
Clint Jones
All really big signings that other clubs were chasing. I am not sure anyone at the club can be blamed for Tendai, Clem or Angus all leaving at the times they did. It was thier timing that screwed us not anyone at the club.
As for yesterdays game, I watched a game that I expected us to get flogged from the begging to the end, yet we put a f##k%%g fight which is what we have been asking for from them for years. Basically it was kids up against AFL experience. Once the best 22 is on the field we will worry a few teams.

Totally agree with DD and PD. There were plenty of positives to come out of this game.
Sure we only kicked 3 goals after quarter time but Swans never really got too far away from us. Even at the 25 minute mark of the last quarter we were still pressing forward and just one goal would have put the wind up the Swans players.

After an outstanding first quarter our debutants fell away a little when the game got a little physical. That was to be expected against a vastly more experienced side but they tried hard and will learn plenty from being given the opportunity.

And how refreshing it was to see so many new faces in the Ressies as well. Finally all the deadwood has gone. I can't remember the last time that we saw so many young players transitioned into the senior squad in one go.

Far too early for all the usual negative crap. IMO we do have plenty of upside whereas I think that if I was a Swans supporter I would take the win but be mighty unhappy with their overall performance. They are a very ordinary.

Some of you guys singing the same old negative song might be happier if you went and found a nice Ammos game to go and watch on Saturday afternoons.

As an aside, what a disgraceful exhibition of WAFL footy Peel and East Perth displayed on prime time TV last night.
Unbelievably bad. IMO.

Acca Dacca beat us to him Decades ago and he hasn't looked back since strumming his Fingers around a Cool Guitar,as opposed to getting the pill as a Rover 30 times a game. :silly: B)

Second time I have done that - must have AC/DC on my mind.

Obviously not able to get to the game but watched the stats move on WAFL website.
(How friggin exciting is that.)
The stats do tell a story, at quarter time SD had about 30-40 more possessions.
At full time the gap was 105, hit outs we won 42-40 and inside 50s were 50-38 in Swans favour.
SD had a fair bit of the footy so we must have been doing something.
Frees 27-8 means we may be doing something wrong and SD first goal came with a 50 metre penalty. We need to address that, it is a discipline thing and we need to tighten up.
McKenna - what's he up to? Scraped his way to 17 disposals (last year's counts were down also).
Tropiano - if he went off in 3rd quarter he had only 6 disposals any problem?
Spencer White 9 disposals, his output seems under par.
Colledge 21 disposals - how did they use him?
Corey Byrne must have been a positive with 19 disposals after a total of 20 in 2 games last year.
Cody Ninyette 15 disposals as a small forward?
Gordon Narrier 14 disposals - where did he play?
Callum Walley 9 disposals ???? Is this good enough?
Debutantes Roe 6, Johnson 4, Scotney 10, Gooch 6, these don't leap out at me where did they play?
Giblett 11 played in defence - how did he do?
Devin McFarlane 8 disposals in defence? How did he do?
Edmonds with 13 and named amongst our best.
Our defence must have done reasonably well?
It's not the size of the dog in the fight. It's the size of the fight in the dog.
Winning isn't everything. It's the ONLY THING !!!!!!
I shot the fukin sherriff!!!!

DF, yes some concerns..
Bluey and Troppo seemed out of sorts to me. Not sure what the problem is.
Spencer White a big monster of a man but can't mark a ball and does not impose himself on the game.
Garstonevery little impact. Needs to get himself into the game.
Colledge made a good return to the club. Played thru the midfield. Very steady.
Byrne is a clever player but tends to avoid the heavy stuff.
Ninyette looks like a 12 yo but can play. Very skillful but slight of build. Very courageous but they were after him. Appears very composed.
Narrier very slight of build but very exciting. Tapered of after quarter time. Tries too many unrealistic marking efforts. He will get better. Played on the wing. Great running player.
Roe heavier build than Narrier and he too can play. Showed some good skills but he too tapered off and tried to be to smart at times.
Walley does not offer much as a player. Has a greater impact as a mentor.
Johnson a big imposing lad who goes in hard. Did not have a huge impact but has good potential,
Scotney Did some good things but no huge impact
Gooch likewise. All the debutants did enough to suggest further opportunities. More in the Ressies lining up.
Giblett and MacFarlane not big stats but solid in defence. Fitted in well with Latch, Marlin, Edmonds and Sinclair. Good solid back six.
Frees 27/8.. Worobec....says it all. Some undisciplined play but not that much.
Swans very ordinary considering all the ex AFL and other experienced players.
Ruck is a problem. Cannot play with Eyres as sole ruckman. I liked the look of Tim Sutherland in the Ressies. a Big solid lad who doesn't mind the hard stuff. I hope he gets a chance next week.
A positive start. Should have won the game. The next 2 or 3 weeks may tell us where we are at.

PD1899 Tendai was drafted in November and Clem Smith hadnt been around the club for pre-season training for a while so i reckon there was ample time to recruit to replace those 2,yes Graham left very late leaving the club in an awkard position to find a replacement,Dene White left in January so probably a 50/50 as to find a replacement for him.

I suppose as a supporter you have to decide whether you are happy 2017 is a good choice to start rebuilding and finals and a flag for mine seem just as far away as it did post 2016.
So when are we ever going to get in front and be a force imo we just seem to go through the motions each year and rarely ever seem to build and forge ahead from a previous year.

What i found disappointing about yesterday was we played the wooden spooners of the previous year a team we played 3 times last season and won every game.
We needed to get off to a good start to the season yep 8 goals in the first term is a fantastic effort and congrats to the young kids that debuted they are part of the future to this club but to kick just 3 goals after quarter time for mine it just had that familiar feel about it,a game we should have won but lost narrowly, its happened so many times this senario one great quarter 3 where we struggle to kick goals.

In terms of experienced players that played yesterday in the ressies that could have played league we had Stack thats more out of favour with the coaching staff than in,Etto whom at 5 points hasnt really fired since he's been here Papertalk at 10 points hasnt fired a shot at any of his wafl clubs at league level.
Of course we do have just like the other club injuries to some good players but as the club mantra is this season "no excuses" then we really cant offer that up as an excuse yesterday,we where well in a winning position at quater time and couldnt get the job done.

DF i also wonder about Walley and what his role is in the team.

Smokey i am presume one of the ones singing the same negative song you post about but you know what,i stand by what i post and believe you me i would love nothing more than to be proved wrong and i wont take up watching the ammos much to the displeasure of some posters on here.
Im happy for people to disagree with me in fact please point out in my posts where i have gone wrong.

Anyway it is early days and we have the chance to redeem ourselves next week against Subi.

Swan are ordinary and yet we couldn't beat them ok mete, more upside eh young kids are going to get the same treatment every week they will come up against more experienced sides yes they will stay with them for a quarter or two and then they will tire and fade away like they did yesterday, that's why we needed to recruit not send them to the wolves, but wait a minute you seem happy with another rebuild

30+ Yes Tendai was an unfortunate circumstance.

But We lost Clem after the majority of other viable recruits were taken by other clubs. This is totally unacceptable and really f##Ked our chances of finding experienced replacements.
Then to lose Our ruck man so late is pathetic on his behalf. The club did what the could to plug this hole. Same with Dene White.

These are big signings and IMO would have made a big difference to the final score yesterday. Again IMO none of which the club could be held accountable for.

PN what else can you do but rebuild, if there is no one left to recruit after our recruits pull out Jan/Feb. What other option does the club have?
