Whilst it was disappointing to fall away in the second half the way the style played in the first half (in difficult conditions) has given me more confidence than I’ve had for a long time this team is on the right track.

We should have gone in at half time with a bigger lead after playing an outstanding second quarter and squandering a few opportunities in the first quarter when adapting the windy cross breeze and wide ground.

A goal to Schloithe after the half time siren gave South’s some life after a poor quarter and they took that impetus into the third quarter and started to get first hands on the ball and got themselves back into the contest. After a tight struggle for the first 10 minutes in the last quarter the flood gates opened with the end result not really reflecting the closeness of the contest.

Sinclair is in rare form at the moment but he’d wish he could have his time again with two shocking clearances in the last quarter gifting South’s goals.

Spencer White is starting to show a bit and took a couple of nice contested marks but got most of his possessions down the field, be good if he was able to stay closer to the sticks.

If Ninyette had arrived in Carnarvon a bit earlier he could have ridden a few of the top weights on Saturday afternoon. Gee he is slight but performed very and really deserved his promotion. Apart from kicking a few, his disposals were really clean and he did a few clever knock ons which don’t show on the stats sheet…..looks a smart footballer. Byrne also did some nice things and showed some good pace and just missed slotting a nice long goal from the flank in the 3rd quarter which would have given us a lift.

A few players had down days with Stack finding it hard to get into the game although he nearly snagged a couple of opportunistic goals hitting the post once. Browne doesn’t look up to league standard at present and made some elementary mistakes. Must make mention of Leggett who did a couple of really courageous acts, looks a real competitor.

Hopefully Perth can put the last quarter hiding behind them, learn from their mistakes and have another win over East Freo this Saturday.

Interesting summation WB, apart from that second qtr South have creamed us in both encounters.

IMO the 2nd quarter was our best quarter this season. We pressured SF into making numerous errors and made them pay.

I agree that Sinclair was superb despite those 2 4th quarter turnovers.

PS Thanks to Brad the truckie who ironically is/was a SF supporter!
