DF as far as I know the points quota applies only to players listed as top 40odd players. That list can change but only players on that list can play league footy unless a listed player is dropped off to include another within the points cap. Colts players certainly are not included.

Not sure exactly how it works gents, but the following was on an article on the West Website in regards to changes to colts rules this year......One for you to read Grassy, so I can confirm Perth has 140 points and this is 10 more than the rest.


In other concessions, WAFL battlers Perth have been granted an extra 10 points above the maximum 130-point cap for this season.

The request from the Demons, who won just two matches last year, was approved on equalisation grounds.

Had a quick look and I reckon roughly we have a squad of 54 players with a total of 124 points.

Count again I counted 160 points

shouldn't competition equalisation apply to all the other clubs bar Subi, EP and Peel tho? Not anyone else's fault bar PFC in regards to poor coaching, recruiting and development outcomes over the years don't you think?.....Perth have recruited as many not more players than say EF over the last 5 - 10 years....can't see why PFC get extra concession just because the likes of ex AFL guys in Morton x 3, Spaandaman, Davis etc were failures....and the likes of Jarman, McMahon etc were poor coaching choices.....EF had plenty of those in Dunbar, Lester-Smith etc who have come up short......so you guys have a big war chest and extra points now.....fingers crossed Spalding delivers for you guys then......

I don't believe that the points cap applies to the full squad.
I am not certain of the fine detail but I understood that each club has a fixed list of players (I believe it may be 40) and the total points of players on that list must fall within the cap.
Only players on that list can play in the league side unless any player or players are dropped off and replaced from time to time through injury or form. But no matter who are officially on that list the total points must remain within the limits of the cap.
Perhaps someone can confirm my thoughts or enlighten me.

And I think you are right.
Any player not on that list of 40 and leave and go to another club.
It is therefore hard to gauge what points we have to play with.

Maybe that's the go with Lawrence.
He is a 10 point player but not on the list of 40.
So his 10 points don't count.
He can leave anytime he likes maybe but chooses to stay.
