I'd be delivering a free season's pass to everybody within 1km of Lathlain Park. To get the local community more onside and involved and hopefully to start a new legion of Demon fans.

Ive met a few clients through my work that live around the corner from Lathlain and were curious about WAFL footy as they are from overseas or interstate. Ive encouraged them to walk down on a Sat home game and have a look etc. I think its a good idea to offer something like a Season pass or Admit 1 free etc, if you dont give you dont get

Yeah for sure mate. Nothing to lose. We all started off as rookie fans once and it grew from there.

Thisn is what I'm saying the club and other WAFL clubs need to find ways to make money elsewhere.

By opening the bar new people from around the area may come in and thus may come to a couple of games. Where do all the people that used to drink at the Carlisle Bowling club go?

Before the first home game it might be an idea to do a drop off in the areas that I said above about the free admission. Probably should be a free admission for you and a friend that way they have a mate to talk to at the game :)

Get the locals in for free for a whole season. Hopefully if that works ok, then there would be a natural demand for the Perth bar to be open on Friday nights, if not more nights.

It's a bit like them girls that visit the pubs giving away free samples of the latest alcoholic beverage.

Give some away for free and get 'em hooked in.

I think we're gonna have to do the same with the WAFL, otherwise we might end up the same way as "Perth pubs, long gone" in a few years

you might find it a bit of a tight squeeze 58...... considering SwanDog and his 3500 plus mates drink their most nights, even standing room would be out of the question for you fella.....make the journey to Moss St mate....I'm sure one of EFFC 1500 members would surely give you a ride home

I know for a fact in the mid 2000s the club tried some initiatives like has been suggested - but it's simply not financially feasible to open the bar.

At one stage during a preseason the players dropped off flyers re the bar & it included a free pass/voucher for a couple of free drinks (alcoholic of course) to all households within a few km of Lathlain. This also allowed the club to monitor how many vouchers were used and the interest.

The vouchers were hardly used and the response was abysmal.

I think the sad fact is there are so many social options these days a WAFL club struggles to attract people. Unlike years ago, many supporters live a distance away from the ground so add drink driving and it's just too hard.

I would say the club makes heaps more from hosting events like weddings & parties in the function hall...

The club really hasn't got a hope of competing with places like the Broken Hill, Vic Park, Balmoral etc which are excellent bars with a good vibe and decent meals, even the Carlisle would be a better option for people near the footy club.

The Mason's club on Albany Hwy had a drop off in member participation so they opened it up to the locals a couple of years back and all they really attracted was the old alcos that used to frequent the Broken Hill back before it's revamp and they dont really fit the current demographic of the BH anymore. That's all you'd really get a footy club these days and it's not really worth opening for them. BTW, I think the Mason's club has shut its doors now.

As AGOOK has mentioned the Club has worked very hard on the Lathlain Romm and to market it as venue for events (weddings etc).

Not sure how many they have in a year

This is the best use of the facility and the club has actually done an excellent job in this area.
