Hug might be a handy small forward. Richo is rumoured to retire. Browne doesn't hit the scoreboard enough. Quill doesn't seem able to make to the step up from reserves to league. McPartland is just not a natural forward. I wouldn't play Hug in the midfield, but as a one point player, I have no problem getting him back. Likewise Busher, even Marlin and Hansen. They are one point players and will add to depth even if they don't play much league. I'm ambivalent about Ah Chee. He's ok, but far from the line breaking 35 possession a game midfielder we need. But are we looking at the VFL? We seem to be going for de-listed AFL players. But our best recruits over the last 20 years have been VFL players - Bossong, JKT, Young. Bolton, Dela, Kitchin, Fisher and Anderson are VFL, and among the best in the WAFL.

It might be worth looking at Snadden and Davies from EF, both of whom are on the outer there. Sad that this is where we are at: looking at fringe players from another struggling team.

He dominated at SANFL level as an inside mid. That was a few years ago, but I think the potential is there. This is from an article when he was drafted to WCE:

He had a stellar year in the SANFL, finishing second in the Magarey Medal and winning the Port Magpies best and fairest. West Coast plan to use Brendon Ah Chee in the midfield and attack.
“When he plays at SANFL level he is an inside mid,” Rawlings said. “When he plays for Port in the AFL he has been more forward. We feel he has got attributes in both roles. We felt like we needed one more of that type in our squad to give the coaches another option. When he plays at SANFL level he is a bit of a class above and no doubt it has been frustrating for him in the last year or two. The Port midfield has been really strong with some similar types to him that he has been up against.

Mitch Cox that plays for Frankston. Is that the same Mitch Cox that came to play for Perth with Ben Giobi, his last name escapes me. Got injured, couldn’t find employment so returned back to Victoria?

Was in the running for the Fothergill Round Mitchell Medal. Was just wondering if it was the same player.

Did anyone who attended the Butcher Medal night hear officially from the club that Mayne has signed? I haven’t read anything. So the only source has been Basil Zempilas on 7 news.

Mayne appointed coach of our Futures, Colts and Rising Redlegs programs and is “expected” he will play I’ve been told. He’s a great get, thanks for coming home Chris Mayne.

I think he’d be good at full forward for you blokes at this stage of his career, where do you see him playing?
