I do not know how much credit is due to Neesham for the 1985 East Freo flag. After all it is a team sport and The Old Easts were well and truly on the way up and had an excellent team. Not only did they gain Neesham after the 1984 GF loss they also had Brian Peake return from his Geelong stint and Chris Mainwaring come down from Geraldton. Neesham whilst tending to hold the ball up bit, certainly was a "general" like steadying figure in the midfield and along with Murray Wrensted and Clinton Browning clearly one of our best on that day in September 1985.

and for the record the sharks were certainly underdogs in 92 & 94

Pretty sure Mainy,Wilson and Wrensted covered kms defensively for old timers in Bomber,Neesham and Steve Green thru the midfield in that 85/86 team for EF......pretty sure the latter 3 only ran one way back then due to their aging legs...
