If you have a few hours I am sure PJ could wax lyrically about the Michael Boucher clashes.

And about Rons Sandovers ....lol

Perce would also tell you of the radio station battle between the likes of 6PR , 6IX , 6WF or 720 , 6KY and the doyens like Frank Sparrow , Keith Slater , George Grljusich , JK Watts , Sweet , Fanchi , Minson , Perce , Mumme

These guys called some of the biggest games this country has seen - I still remember the broadcasts & how everything stopped at 1.50pm every Saturday - and that INCLUDES the VFL which would have been playing prior on some stations.

They were the great commentators not the piffle wankery of nowadays

Let's not forget Bazza that it's players like Boucher and Moss that helped make TI great as he rose above....we all have Michael in front of those 2 great players despite our club allegiances but respect their battles for what they were...clashes of the Titans

Therein encapsulates the need to ensure the viability and history of the WAFL. Frank Sparrow was the best footy caller I have heard. One wonders whether Ron Alexander has heard of him or how many Victorians have heard of F Sparrow.

S Michael's comments about the importance of the WAFL should be supported by all.

Southerner: I always disliked 6pr because it had the races which interuptted the play. 1982 was a bad year, form memory, as one station dropped out meaning only three were covered each week.

However, as you say, overall the radio coverage was good and, informative and funny.

I remember Frank Sparrow's commentary: 'down charges the SF defence like the the charge of the light brigade'.

Absolutelly magnificent.

He would be in danger of being taken off the air now for not being Politically Correct.
