Public survey going out this week ( again ) on proposed redevelopment of the oval.

Lets ensure we DO NOT have a shambles repeated at EF Oval.

This will be an 80 Million project as opposed to the 30 Million at EF so far more scope.

Concerning some of the stuff FCC have highlighted on their project focus, Footy seems to not be the number one aim, we need to make sure it IS!

Get on the survey and tell them you want this as Fremantles No.1 Historic Footy Venue first and foremost.

chalk & cheese between the two no comparison really - it isn't a suburban ground

the business hub & residential will pay the major coin we all know that (and there is a line up quite keen)

federal funds coming our way and it's all finally at the doorway (meeting held a past weeks and govt looks good)

good to get the old girl some new knickers & a fancy dress

The problem that you got is that stupid heritage listed timber grandstand that doesn’t align with the oval and is a ridiculous distance away from it. I think I recall you guys saying a redeveloped Fremantle oval will be realigned to fit the stupid unfit for purpose timber grandstand. That is just ridiculous and no way tax payers money should be thrown at such nonsense.

Modern facilities today have comfortable seating and amenities. If you want to retain the heritage they need to do what they do with old buildings, retaining the facade only and build the modern structure behind it. They could even dismantle it and move it like they did with the old heritage listed Chinese restaurant on the corner of the old Esplanade park that was pulled apart brick by brick and reconstructed on an island at Lizzy Quay.

Or they could simply build something that from the back fits in with Fremantle heritage. If any redevelopment has to built around that old timber structure that hardly anyone sits in because it’s so damn uncomfortable and miles away from the oval then that is ridiculous.

And I’d dare say you’ll need to hold off for at least a couple of years until this EF Oval debacle is sorted out because plan B might be they abandon it and become joint tenants of Fremantle Oval. Then you’ve got a better chance of having a top notch new development that hosts two WAFL clubs not one.

Yes did hear that Federal Funding was quite good, and that some good meetings held this week, things moving very quickly.

I have concerns at some of the wokeish :'"truth telling" messages coming through the blurb, they talk about heritage a bit but not about footy heriatge or the history of the oval esp connected to the UNESCO listed Prison site, you would want all that included in any planned historical interpretations, how about memories of likes of Naylor, Jenkins, Marsh and Co...first and foremost.

Anyway looks like a 15000 capacity facility planned, so will be the biggest WAFL venue around once all said and done.

Thats the most ridiculous post yet DD.

That Historic Victoria Pavillion stand is the biggest asset on the ground and will be feature. Just like the old stands at the SCG and North Sydney Oval.

This is the problem with you mate. You like to attack and attempt to ridicule me don't you? What is your problem? To say my post is the most ridiculous yet is a ridiculous statement in itself when I have given a constructive opinion that you should appreciate.

I would say your statement that the old decrepit wooden stand is Fremantle Ovals greatest asset when very few people use it, is a most exaggerated and ridiculous statement.

I am trying to be constructive and I would like to see the best outcome for your club and EF. If you are taking it any other way then you need to grow up a bit.

settle down the pair of you jesus !

first thing - the Oval itself is to be put back to it's original 1900 position

the Victoria will be totally revamped & protected federally

it'll be a near 100 mill build if the right circs fall and up to 20000 peeps could be possible too

Carpark gone and good riddance - an underground is floated

It'll be grand for footy and the people

Here's a lesson for you and your mate. Look at the EF redevelopment thread. That's a perfect example of how a thread should operate with constructive input from all sides without anyone trying to ridicule anyone else's opinion, of which you Bazza are a regular contributor.

All WAFL supporters are entitled to their opinion on a Fremantle Oval redevelopment on this forum.

You mentioned 20k capacity and Bazz mentioned 15k, is there an actual figure quoted in the prospectus? At the moment leederville can cope with 17k which was the 2022 GF crowd, probably similar at Joondy and Basso with their big outer banks. I've seen a few visuals of the Freo oval proposal and it looks great, hopefully it doesn't get whiteanted by the various levels of government and the local lefthanded lgbtqi etc etc tree hugging mung bean community down that way. With labour in power federally and state, finance for an $80 to $100mill development is a walk in the park for a pink and green council like Freo.
