Swans were pretty good today and made us look pretty poor and thoroughly deserved to win - we just didn't play well and had some quiet players
probably should have lost by more I thought

Terrible performance. Too many passengers left for too few. In for a long season.

That was really poor. MaCarthy, Rioli, Shaw hardly got near it.

Need some more clean hands, looked fumbly and always went laterally but without run. Pissed me off.

Donaldson, Main, Doney, Schlensog and Suban are all needed.

Big game v the pricks next week.
Sharpen up doggies.

Doggie...I saw a terrific letter to the Editor in today's West where Ric Gloede was having a gripe about the AFL mid season draft and said South's could lose as many as five players. That would make it very tough for the club through the back half of the season and really is a disgrace when you consider the impact on the club, players, supporters, sponsors and hard working volunteers. This garbage has to stop.

Dogman, got to say I'm surprised McCarthy is getting a game. When was the last time he played a half decent game at any level?

BC - yeah even losing one player at this stage is a killer because they will be your best player(s). Quite feasible that we will lose Florenca 100%, Strom 80%, Pearson, McQuilkin and Blenchendyn 50/50 and even Hamish Free will be looked at I think. If Sclensog was fit he would be in the gun too.

It's not great for anyone (except the player of course) if your WAFL team that you love just has its heart ripped out half way through the season. We at SF have sort of become accustomed to it over the years with Kelly, Pickett, Parker being taken during the year but to lose multiples will hurt. Surely National draft, Rookie draft and Covis top up lists are more than enough??

Ted - I think Mccarthy got a call up last week late due to some late outs v Peel. He played ok but was named on the wing this week which I was keen to see. Unfortunately he didn't really venture out of the 50m arc and had no impact at all v SD. In saying that Shaw didn't get near it yesterday either as we were beaten all over the ground (except the ruck, but that didn't matter). get him across half back or on the wing for mine, let him run and see how he goes for 4 weeks.

yeah its not good although over 200 players have nominated for the draft and there are only 20 spots so I think an individual club would have to be very unlucky to lose more than one.

probably won't lose 5 players but two are definitely a chance to be lost
apparently ruckmen are in demand as well so that may influence things a bit

Unfortunately Mike, it’s always the 1 or 2 best players in the team that get pirated.
