7 Nil Smashing in the HCA.

This has been a disastrous result for the Victorian Justice System, I wonder if big ears will launch an inquiry as to why they got it so wrong, one of the few states that doesn't allow Judge alone trials, but then considering that only one out of three of their Supreme court Judges had any idea what they were doing one wonders wtf is going on there.

I'd be wanting a big quid for spending over a year in jail for something I didnt do, thats for sure.

Surely the result is what you want of a justice system.
Unless of course the views on this thread are from those who still think Lindy Chamberlain is guilty because she was acquitted on appeal.
One of my biggest fears has always been facing charges under the provisions of the tax act or Companies code and sitting before Jury full of people who are not privy to the workings of either, yet have heard repeated stories of other professionals rorting the system.
Guilty by Association is subject to appeal as so it should be.
George Pell was convicted by a jury in Vic for the failings of the church and right from the start the evidence was flawed and the conviction has been rigtfully over turned.

I guess there's some concerns as it now places doubt on trial by jury going forward when the HCA can overturn it even after the Court of Appeal found the jury decision reasonable notwithstanding it was a 2-1 ruling.

Right up there (down there) with the Michael Jackson appeal decision. Would be very different if the second poor victim had not topped himself after years of dealing with the abuse and been able to collaborate the others testimony.

You sound like Democrats in the USA or Labor here, if you don't get the result you crave. it must be wrong.

I think the fact it was 7 nil validates it as being the right decision for mine.

Hope this doesn't prevent the many other victims of child abuse who need to be heard on this issue.
