saying that the game did highlight Pav's expiry date, D Pearce is a turn over king, Mzungu is his apprentice, Taberner hasnt improved from last year, Mayne kicks for goal like a defender and Ballntyne is a numpty and a hot head.......Lyon is gonna do to Freo what he did to St Kilda......leave them when the window has well n truly closed....which will be by the end of 2016......

  • The one thing Freo 'cant' do is to kick a bag of goals - once again a fail
  • Hawthorn dominated them throughout the game - ran pretty free and kicked uncontested marks most of the night - just chip chip chipping away.
  • Mistakes and turnovers were the order of the night for Froe - unfair to say the last qtr held the one that cost them the game - just the momentum (an interesting comment by Commetti was that when the Freo player ((name?)) fluffed the mark not one Freo player ran or came to him to console him - if it wasn't over before that - it was over then)
  • Fyfe was a massive walking wounded and had little effect on the game
  • Crowley WOULD have been a great inclusion as its turned out, on mitchell most likley, so there is some cynical relief for his ego in that I guess

Oh well ... theres always next year ??? Actually me thinks not as that Finals door is actually closing whether they realize it or not... Peel should have some interesting players next year hahaha

What the hell is going on with crowds at Subi oval, the behaviour at subi friday night was a total disgrace, this and the antics on the fence , fair dinkum were out of order big time, these crowds now have the reputation as the worst in the country.
Further more what have the FFC and WAFC announced publicly about it, the AFL righly condemned the behaviour strongly today.

The biggest challenge for Ross i reckon is he has coached defensively for ever, i wonder if he can adapt a more attacking style. It will show next year when it comes down to picking say a rookie with flair over a rookie "soldier" ( who is solid BUT......).
Hard to change after 10 years coaching one way ( woosha malthouse come to mind)

Totally agree - they were just outplayed & made more costly mistakes. I think Lyon must be more attacking to go to the next level but they need the cattle. A tall forward, tall more mobile back man to help Johnson and a speedy on-baller. Bennell and Macca would be nice ???
McPharlin will be hard to replace - he was a great player. Pav at his best will probably be impossible to replace but they'll have to try. I think Freo will still be challenging for a few more years if their recruiting is targeted. They've been trying to get a big fish for a while - they'll get one eventually. Trading some experienced players past their best but still playing well may be a good option ? I wouldn't be saying the windows closed but the wind might have to change direction a bit? They've got some great players, some young guns so just need a few more to fit all the pieces together. If a few things went their way last night the crowd may have pulled them over the line ??? But I don't think they were at their best because the Hawks were just a bit classy.. But they gave them a good scare for a while and they ll learn from the experience.

Your point about Sheridan's dropped mark is absolutely ridiculous as four players ran to him and it is clearly shown on the vision just after they showed Rioli being congratuled by his team mates on the goal.

The game may well have been lost at that point but to say it was beacause no one went to Sheridan just shows what people will make up to substantiate their own version of events.

Crikey, pity he didn't direct that sort of venom towards the women basher!

Some twisted morals going on here.

Last night just showed that their list and their selections through out the season did nothing to put them in a position to win.

Their backline was carrying more injuries than even the weagles and they had little confidence in their next level to step up, no experience, duffy and pearce should have played more games so that if the geriatrics, johnson et al broke down once again then there as a next level to fill in!

The forward line relies on Sonny being able kick more that he should have to! Pavlich a very good footballer but is carrying injuries, Mayne has been cruelled by something but certainly not mr centermetres, as for ballantyne he is injured or his lack of credible ability has come home to roost.

Fyfe is injured, mundy is past his prime, pearce is at best a b- player and that is another issue for them, their spread of talent is to wide, too many c graders where clearly hawthorn go down to a b-.

Interesting listening to James Clement before the game where he pretty foretold the outcome and storyline before the game.

Whately did make a comment about lyon bailing to another club due to the dorkers list now being past it, and frankly it would not be a surprise to see him and essendon!

G Whately would come a VERY POOR snd DISTANT THIRD in a comparison with the WAFC, T Abbott and him in my opinion. G Whately SHOWED HIS LACK OF PROFESSIONALISM and BIAS when he didn't interview Pavlich and Lyon at the start of the finals. A grain of salt would be too much value re his views on the FFC.

I am not here to be an apologist for Lyon, HOWEVER if St Kilda had signed him earlier he would not be at Fremantle. He did what most people would do when there was doubt about their job, he chose to get another job. There is NOTHING neither unusual nor immoral in his action.

Mundy past his prime? 19 votes suggest he's playing as well as ever.

Whately is a typical Victorian centric flog. No longer have Foxtel and miss access to all games and Gerard Healy on the couch but don't miss for one second those two self indulgent flogs Whately and Robinson.
