the AFL have learnt nothing, they are soft as butter.
if they haven't learnt from the Essendon thing, they never will.

Even the WAFL has more clout that the AFL after banning a Swans players for 2 years for taking a Sudafed. The AFL really are the laughing stock of elite sport.

My understanding is that no athlete got more than 6 months for the infraction that Cass was found guilty of; so I am not sure it should be used as the benchmark in Crowley's case.

what about the Saints bloke that got 18months for the sports drink.

I could be wrong but wasn't Saad performance enhancing, regardless Crowley should of got two years and it's a blessing in disguise that he's not playing for Freo and won't again.

24 months - sudafed
18 months - sports drink
12 months - methadone

sounds a bit strange to me considering i know which i would want to put in my system if i had a choice of the 3

Of course it is. Saad bought an energy drink at the corner shop & got 2 years. After the Essendon saga every AFL footballer knew what they could or couldn't take. This smartarse took " a prescribed substance" from his doctor. The Doctor would have known that Crowley was an AFL footballer. Smells of rotten mudcrabs.

Crowley may struggle to get a new contract with the Dockers as I believe his current one expires at the end of 2015. Fremantle appear to have moved on without him and his hard tag style of play seems to be out of vogue generally in the AFL at the moment, so he may find himself redundant. Also if the Dockers made it as far as the preliminary final there is no way on earth that Ross Lyon would pick a guy who hadn't played a competitive AFL game for a year, that is a ridiculous suggestion
