I see the Irish won today, out of interest why do they play these games every time with a round ball?.....all I read today was how better skilled the Irish were with the round ball.....well of course they would be... they play with it all the bloody time.....

Why don't they play half a game with a round ball and half a game with an Aussie rules ball?......though I do remember watching the first games back in the mid 80's at the WACA.....Dipper et al crashing Irish bodies left right and centre.....good entertainment, some of those Irish boys were wiry and skinny.... but tough as nails!!

I will never forget that International Rules game Australia played in Ireland in 2004 freeze where there was a dog on the field during the match chasing the game ball around for about 10 minutes before any of the Irish officials did anything about stopping the little fella!! P!ss funny

A mickey mouse series that no one really gives a rats arse about. Only way to make it even slightly interesting is as freeze said - share the ball. Also stop the Micks crying foul every time they cop a tackle or bump. Not saying that they should let it get as physical as Aus Rules, but there's a round ball and no touchy touch....netball comes to mind.

loved Mickey O's comment that he has been on better benders when on tour representing Australia......good to see all the indigenious boys taking this opportunity seriously and having a few guinness's in the land of the leprechaun.......Ireland is a lovely place to the tour, can understand the need to sink a few ales......the Irish are so hospitable.

hopefully the boys can stay sober enough to score a result in the rematch.....

Lots of pedigree Irish blood lines in the Australian "Indigenious" boys anyway. Probably good for some to see their other ethnic homeland and culture first hand. Certainly doesn't hurt, and something they can be proud of.

Mike.

.....I wonder if the AFL will select a non indigenious team next year?......and the Irish will agree to play with a an Aussie Rules ball instead of a round one?.....actually I wonder if there will be a series at all next year?

i actually find it offensive that any national sporting team is made up of one race of people. Is that not blantant racism ??

What if it had been the other way around? It would then be racist, wouldnt it?

I dont understand it, and I have had no interest in it as a result.

I don't understand why people would complain about it being an all Indigenous Team? Tell me who of the current stars has recently put hands up to play in the series? I can't recall anyone. As soon as an all Indigenous Team volunteered everyone has a cry. At least this team were proud enough to go and actually represent their country and not think they were bigger than the game.

You totally missed the point. Tell me what would have happened if the AFL had announced that they were sending a whites only team???? You know the answer and so does everyone.
As for the game itself, what a fizzog. No hype (thank God) and no real focus on it. No one at work spoke a word about it. I don't think they even knew it was on. It probably won't be played next year and no one will know any different. Pi$$ it off - no one cares.
