National day of mourning Sept 22nd which will also be a one off public holiday. Call me a curmudgeon but I don't think a national public holiday is at all warranted. We can each have our private thoughts about this amazing lady but a day off in the current economic climate is not a smart or justifiable thing to do. This means businesses, big and small will either have to close or have to pay penalty rates on this day. The building industry is already struggling to keep up, as are many other businesses.
Anyway rant over.
Fully agree with the Public Holiday, but Thursday the 22nd? The funeral is on Monday the 19th What the heck have a day off on Thursday for, should of been the Monday or even the Tuesday next day after. Another weird choice by Albo.
Also thought it was very disappointing the Mcgowan didnt hold a public ceremony , watched the one in Sydney and it was very impressive, McGowan had his behind closed doors at Gov. House.
I'll take a public holiday any day of week. I dont think they really need to be here, as far as I lnow only Albo and GG is going, they have deputies who could of lead events here, ridiculous having it when everythings over.
Definitely a once in a lifetime funeral procession that is for sure. Amazed how it all came together, and the amount of people who came out to pay their respects. Obviously King Charles has waited a life time for this, coming from a long way back, perhaps William would of been the sensible choice in this day n age.....time will tell
