The French diesel crap is out the window and we will be going for Nuke Powered Subs, best decision in decades.

Absolutely Baz, the French diesel stuff is just so out of date and apparently they are so noisy, The Chinese could hear them starting up in Cockburn sound from Bejing!!

The Yanks and Pommes have the newk sub tech nailed, been doing it for near on 60-70 years, so no need to reinvent the wheel, they have it all and are making it available to us. This is all about China without naming them. Expect some fake shock horror & grandstanding from Bejing, but it's they who are the aggressors in the region, so must expect a reaction to the action.

ScoMo made it clear that they will be newk powered but wont be newk armed, but the treehuggers will already be arranging super spreader protest events to tell us that we are all wrong and their little club are right. Right up their with the anti-vaxers.

Do we already have a signed contract with a French company?? What's the compensation claim going to be..
These Nuclear submarines will be a joint venture between the Aussies and the UK.Using the latest US technology. And will be superior Subs to the original plan..
Interesting that US coal, beef.wine+ crayfish producers. Are picking up the slack from the Australian bans imposed by the Chinese CCP.This will upset China, we can expect more Australian trade sanctions.

Good to see the AG haven’t bought another Vauxhall Viva.  As for the Chinese having a whinge, have a look at what you are doing in our region, you’re the reason Oz needs to do this.

The more nations onside the better to alienate this clown Xi Ping Pong and his idealism the better it will be for future generations of Chinese people. Now the idealistic prick is stripping legitimate wealthy Chinese of their hard earned.

Actors, singers, celebrities, media moguls. They are vanishing into thin air because it doesn’t fit into this clowns ideology. He needs to teach them humility apparently while introducing books to everyone’s children in school where Xi Jinping is referred to as everyone’s Grandpa.

You eliminate one fruit loop and another one pops up. Best thing that could happen is a rise up against him internally by those he is trying to take away their wealth and freedom. Then the West can move in.

None of which will please the French govt at all. Apparently they were blind sided by the decision. God knows how much tax payers money will be paid in compensation?!

Aren’t the French subs the Collins class that were beset with problems from day one? Number one issue being too noisy and that’s the whole idea if subs isn’t it, being stealth like defence weapons.

No, fairly certain not. The Collins class is Australia's current fleet of I think 11 or 12 subs. Which were built in Australia I'm told. And seem to recall a swedish car maker tied in with it somehow?
The (abruptly binned) French designed vessel being the Attack class. Which was beset with problems, cost blowouts etcetera from early on. Apparently our govt started looking for alternatives in June, some 2 or 3 months ago.
The overnight announcement obviously caught the french (and others) completely off guard. Apparently not being delivered until after 2030. So we'll have to put up with our noisy ones until then.
Wonder why the french cannot make nuclear subs?

The French pick by Turnbull and Pyne was wrong from day one, remember we were supposed to get the Japanese version but then suddenly jumped on this French crap, which ironically was a Nuke Sub but we wanted to retro fit it with old style diesel engines, a crazy idea, the only sub worth having now is a Nuke Sub, they can stay down for ever, are so silent they can run into each other without knowing and have a range and speed that leaves diesel for dead.

The French diesel was redundant from day once the retro fitted diesel meant they had a massive noise trail, that means easily located and easily destroyed, no stealth at all.

Its going to cost a couple of billion to get out of this French debacle but it will be worth it long term.

I see Mr irrelevant Green - Bant saying they are floating Chernobyls, what a clown, even India has been operating these subs for decades trouble free.
