Well if mask on period is on again and for a while, may as well open the borders.  We’re only 3 weeks away from opening up anyway.  I’m not looking forward to it, but we can’t lock our economy up forever.  Business has to be able to move on.

I said earlier that in the early 2000's the group I managed as part of a National outposted role was to investigate an Australia card and what POI would be needed. 

It is ironic that it based on the 100 pts system Centrelink and banks use.

It has long been a government idea, particularly the right leaning, to help'folk' with the necessary ID and now we have it in another name, the states have just signed upto it either knowingly or through something else!

People staying away from shops and venues in droves in NSW and Victoria as people decide to stay home rather than risk getting crook.

WA still at 88% Vax rate - 2 % below Sneakers target and with Aboriginal rates around 50% and only 36% on Pilbara. Already talk of regional border controls.

We now learn that after two years the best Cooks done is order some tents for more hospital space.

Hope we are ready.

Yes Baz...that just astounds me. After 2 years the best McClown can come up with is to nick off to BCF and buy some tents. Why couldn't they look at having one dedicated Covid hospital NOR and one SOR? If it meant re-opening the ED at Freo hospital or taking over Glengarry then so be it. They could be staffed by specially Covid trained health professionals with all the latest equipment so that anyone suspected of having Covid could be taken there in the first instance for specialist assessment and all other emergencies to the normal public hospitals. Anything would be better than a tent.

I think it’s dangerous to focus purely on numbers. Numbers alone don’t tell the real story. In any pandemic/plague whatever you want to all it the sick or weak are going to always be the first to fall, that’s just a fact of life. Underlying health problems, age, lifestyle, obesity, genetics etc…. all play a role in those statistics. If you focus on those numbers alone it just creates unnecessary panic. 

Maybe they should state the age, pre existing health issues and vaccination status. Then I believe we will come out with a completely different picture.

Yes DD agree. Also how many of those deaths were from Covid rather than with Covid?

Only ever heard one news report where they broke the numbers down similar to how DD described. It was a much better more sensible and true way to represent the stats.

Hardly anyone would get vaxed if they had the breakdowns you have asked for.
