Pretty sure  Health sector penny pinching existed long before this current WA government......go into any ED or hospital in Perth and ask staff has anything changed over the last 20 -30 years.....majority would say same old same old......easy to point fingers at the government.....but in all honesty they have been as inactive as previous govts when it has come to the Health sector.....

Thats quite frankly BS, when Barnett was in Ramping hit 1500 hours max , Cook as shadow minister called this a "crisis"

And now under Cooked they have hit 6000 hours..are we in  crisis mode yet?

So yes it is easy to point the finger at this gov and for good reason.

Not sure ramping hours are the benchmark Bazza.....would of thought wait times for ED, waiting lists for non urgent surgery, GP appointment wait times ,discharge bounce backs, staff burn out/sickness, number of vacancies, and dollars spent on  of agency staff were better indicators of a failing Health sector.....

I would have thought ramping hours are a good indicator of the state of the health system as not only are waiting times for EDs getting longer, you can't even get in so are being ramped instead. As for elective surgeries, they were cancelled months ago, hospitals calling code yellows have now become the norm and even pregnant women are being turned away from King Eddies. I'm not sure just how much more evidence of what has happened under McGoo and Cooked's watch you need Freeze.

Freeze, just thought that the targeting of these specific specialist Doctors who treat Sexual assault victims was particularly cynical and indicates a complete lack of compassion by the Premier and his numpty health minister for the most vulnerable in our society.

Why wouldnt Ramping Hours be a benchmark? they directly relate to ED wait times, non urgent surgery is also impacted.

Anyway I've given you a measurement  - keen to see the figure for the items you have listed.

  • The Parliamentary Budget Office (PBO) found at least $38 billion in JobKeeper went to companies where turnover did not fall below the thresholds
  • The PBO found $1.3 billion went to companies where turnover tripled during the quarter for which they claimed JobKeeper
  • It found a further $1.3 billion was paid to companies that doubled their quarterly turnover

How many hospitals could have this donation from the Fed government have  built?

My measurement is simply working at the coalface of what you are talking about Bazza...it was hard slog back in the 90s in ED when I lived in Perth, under staffed then, over worked, constant abuse, staff burnout and  well n truly under appreciated by the powers above then. I link up regularly with former colleagues at ED conferences in Aust and NZ.....one constant theme, nothing ever changes.....regardless of who is running the show......ramping is merely a reflection of how much the general public abuses/misuses St John as a service.....it is an extended waiting room of ED.....many ED presentations on a given day aren't using the service properly or appropriately.....they simply can't get into or afford their GP,  they can't access or don't want to access the appropriate mental health, alcohol & drug services.....so they front up to ED.....more often then not by ambulance.....all the above are benchmarks of a failing Health system.....a continual build up and short term bandaid cover up by preceding govts.....and yes this present govt....

Reading that 400 million is to be pumped into the health system and more staff for when the border opens right up & that NSW has been slightly risk downgraded
