What an exciting two weeks of football we have left in this season. With battle for final ladder positions still on offer for all. MrM cannot wait to see it all unfold for the time being we sit and wait and see what is on offer, with another possible wet weekend looming.

MrM has a keen eye on the Olympics, and it is fair to say that we can liken it to this very OzFooty Forum. MrM is the rolled gold, deliver all champion, the Titmus if you will. While TheShiz and Fullback they would be the two athletes sharing gold medal and not chasing the big win, like the high jumpers… that is exactly how they want to be, not alpha’s and not even Betas for that matter, happy to settle for less and offering up nothing of note. All right enough talk from the man who talks the most sense, let us look at this weekend

Bullcreek Leeming v Wanneroo @Beasley Park

A Bullcreek loss last weekend all but seals their fate to finish in the top 3 making it unlikely, but they can still chase the home final and to do that they must win this weekend. They do however come up against a side looking to bounce back in recent weeks. Wanneroo have got back on track since dropping a few games in a row and will want to keep that winning form rolling on. I think Wanneroo will be too good here and am sure they have a splendid clash strip ready to wear unlike the Onions.
Wanneroo by 3 goals

West Coast v Mt Lawley @City Beach Oval

While their namesakes are clearly dipping in form, the West Coast boys here are up and about and are clearly the form team of the comp. They are playing some particularly good football and know they just must keep this up to get it all done. Mt Lawley have survived relegation with some recent good form, but I cannot see them winning here. A loss and you never know what will happen in terms of relegation though.
West Coast by 4 goals

Ballajura v Kingsley @Kingfisher Oval

This game is huge for both clubs. A loss and its almost certain C Grade in 2022 for that club, a win and who knows what could happen. Ballajura would be kicking themselves with the first half of the season as they let a few games slip they should not have and now find themselves in this predicament. Kingsley are the same, with a massive two weeks ahead of them. It is a home game for Ballajura and that will sway me to tipping them.
Ballajura by 2 goals

Ocean Ridge v Whitford @Heathridge Park

The Onion boys may have booked themselves a home final with a win last weekend, but know losing games like this, may mean they lose their chance, they are still a chance of a top 3 finish as well, so cannot be counted out. Meanwhile, Whitford, well MrM is not too sure what too say, it is good to see the Reserves doing well though, making sure that side had enough players, but having to forfeit a lower grade. I think it will be a tough ole slog here, and MrM thinks there would be a bit of spice, given last time an Onion Ridge player got 4 weeks for an incident, and 4 weeks in the PFL is about as high as MrM has ever heard. I think the Onions will be too strong though.
Ocean Ridge by 2 goals

Swan Athletic v Bassendean @Swan Athletic Sporting Club

MrM can safely say, the loss of the title of Fawell Park, is certainly the reason for the demise of Swan Ath in 2021. The Ath boys did have a noticeably big win last week though and confidence will be sky high here. They do need another win to make sure they are fully safe from relegation though and it can either be this weekend or next. Bassendean will be ruing the chance they let slip last time against this side though, as they side just outside the top 2. I do not think they will let it happen again; however, you never know, this game means so much to Swan Ath. I think they grape farmers will get up here, as they celebrate the Olympic GOLD.
Swan Athletic by 2 goals

Good luck this weekend

Great to see the Whitford's Reserve side is the most talked about in the PFL again this week, great depth in the club, not uncommon for the league & ressies training groups to have 70+ throughout the season and certainly should be very strong come finals.

Very important to have strong ressies & depth if clubs aspire for A grade..

I am sure Mr M is also aware that if you forfeit 3 games in a season the PFL can not put you back in the same grade the following season. wink, wink, nudge, nudge...C5 comp has been a bit of a joke over the past few seasons with a few clubs dominating each season.

MrM does hope you’re not insinuating what he thinks Unholytugboat

Just remember it is community football, it is not all about winning…

The arrogance of the Whitfords football club is astounding. To deliberately forfeit 3 games of football, regardless of player numbers, at the expense of 66 other players plus coaches from other clubs is pretty sad. Everyone knows the C5 grades are a joke and the PFL should do more to equalise that grade, but to go about it this way is not good sportsmanship. Speaks volumes of the club culture and those in charge.

In terms of tips:

Wanneroo to continue sharpening up as finals approach - 3 goals.
West Coast to do the same - 6 goals.
Ballajura - stronger at home as we know and playing some decent footy without winning - 6 goals.
Onion Rings over Whitford - here's hoping - 3 goals.
Bassendean by 4 goals to keep the relegation battle uncomfortable for 3-4 clubs right up to 4.45pm on the 14th.

Yeah Blunder , maybe you should spend some time down at your local football club. I don't think any club would purposely hold back players from playing a game of football.

If you’re short of players, just say that then champion. It’s a dog league and no one would be surprised if your 4s are shedding players after getting pumped each week. But to wink wink nudge nudge suggest that you’re not fielding teams on purpose, or not making efforts to fill a team if you’re short, is poor.

Either as you suggested initially, you’re a strong club with heaps of depth which is why your ressies are doing well and deliberately not fielding a 4s team to game the system. Or you’re battling in the lower grades for numbers and have a bunch of league players who are pssed off and playing ressies which explains their particular strength this year. Choose which ones because it’s not both.

U need to educate yourself Blunder...

The reserves at Whitfords have been strong for years, finished top 3 past god knows how many years. Ill give U a tip, if U want to know how a club is traveling in the PFL, look at the reserves..

IT is quite funny tho, know it all outsiders throwing stones.

Some would argue that if your Reserves are undefeated, one can't help but to think perhaps you are picking the wrong players in the League side...

Would love to hear some talk on results yesterday... Not often you head into the last round of a season with 4 clubs still a chance of relegation.

Haven’t been down the club for a while (no longer a members or have any active affiliation), but I do know that a number of new WWAFC reserves players that are playing this year are ex-league players in their mid the late 30’s (ie 35 and over) i.e. their best years are behind them but they’re still clever enough to play a decent game of football.

At some stage young blood needs to be pushed along, even if it is to the short term detriment. I reckon it’s a great approach and will set up the club in the years to come.

As for the lower grade sides, they’re all a bunch of ripping blokes but again, they’re in the twilight of their careers and not up to scratch when competing against the thirds and fourths side of A Grade clubs.

I can vouch for the fact that it’s not enjoyable getting thumped by 150-200 points so when all you want to do is enjoy footy, but you’re nudging 40 it’s easy to understand the drop off.

The C5 competition is a Mickey Mouse league and has been so for a while. It’s a poor reflection on the short sightedness of the PFL that they lump in lower grade suburban clubs (even C grade clubs like Baldivis) with the thirds and fourths side of A grade clubs. As long as affiliation fees are paid they don’t seem to care too much about it…
