G'day BAAFLE,

I concur with your thoughts regarding the Preliminary Final West Coast v Bassendean.

WC will be a very different beast to conquer when compared to the young Roos and no doubt Basso are fully aware of such.

Looking at Round 5 results WC v Basso I note that WC gave a B grade lesson to Basso.

WC are big bodied, skillful and B Grade hardened.

In saying that WC have the major disapointment of last year no doubt in their minds to deal with and the Magpies last week ruthlessly exposed this with what I hear was a gritty and Team First approach win at WC (Reports from the game would be most welcome).

With what I saw last week Basso will have no fear and will no doubt continue to play their high pressure play on at all cost game which has served them well.

Finals Footy is a different game with Hunger, Passion and Self Belief needed in abundance to give yourself a chance of success.

I hope to be at City Beach Oval this Saturday.

More to follow.

Well Frank's Tips have hit the shit it's fair to say haha, started knowing everything, finishing with his head between his legs. I very much like the sass between MrM and Unholytugboat, I just need some popcorn and the banter to continue, keep it coming boys. Frank's been super busy sorry, even I'm past COB Wednesday.

Wet Toast letting Frank down and losing to the Wombles. Look I'm just lost with all this. I've seen both teams play and just saw more depth and quality from the Toast. Having the best player in the comp does help I guess but once again, the Toasters will be shitting themselves in another prelim. How big are basso boys? Lotta talk about the size of them. Either way, Wembley back in the dance where they normally are and the Toasters, well be afraid, be very afraid.

Basso dismantle the Roos at the Jubilee and continue to roll on. Thought the form of both teams would have had a different result but when it mattered, Basso showed why they were touted as favourites. As previously stated, Wanneroo were doomed before the season started so a fair effort after a tough few years. As for Basso they continue the winning vibes of the last few years and could be every chance of a win next week. Could you imagine if Basso make it? I can right now, watch out Hampton boys, the Basso train is headed west.

Keep the slang battles going knobs, Frank is loving the work of you all

I think Mr M is upset I didn't buy him a drink the last time we met. Alas, wanneroo colts may win another GF in a week or two and I can rectify a wrong.

Fullback I agree with some of your analysis but think you’re wrong in parts. The Roos definitely did not come to play on the day however you make it sound like it was a complete hiding. Until Basso scored some junk time goals in the last 5 min the margin was just under 3 goals so I don’t know where you get “should’ve been 10” from.
We are young but still finished 4th so it was disappointing to play the way we did when it counted.
Basso were definitely the better team on Saturday though and you’re right in saying they were bigger and more experienced, that’s not everything though and we were disappointed with what we put out there.
We do have some talent coming through the colts though and when you add that to the current base, look out for us in coming years.
Good luck to the sides still in it, I hate footy.

G'day Peter Pan,

Thank you for your post which I understand and respect.

I'm somewhat surprised to read from your post that " The Roos definitely did not come to play on the day" in what was as we know an Elimination Final. Interesting!

Firstly I must qualify my observations about Basso as I have only seen them Play twice (Against Whitfords and obviously Wanneroo).

They look to be a League Team who are skillful, big bodied and play with a hunger and attitude of Team First footy.

One thing they lack (with all due respect) is a traditional Full Forward who can finish all the hard work up the ground.

In the game against Whitfords (won by Basso by 7 points) they dominated general play and really should have won by 8-10 goals.

Yes, the margin in the Wanneroo game was 3 goals with 8 minutes left but was that a true reflection of Basso's domination? In my opinion, No.

As I previously posted Basso's highest Goals scored prior to the Wanneroo game was 10. Obviously Basso playing in the Lower Grades ( C and D) they would have scored and won by more, however, as we know B Grade the game is quicker and there is more efficient clearances from mistakes.

Basso are obviously learning from this and improving each week.

Basso should really be proud of their achievements winning Premierships over the last few years and playing B Grade Finals.

With regards to Wanneroo they should also be proud of their achievements in the League especially if the majority of their players were generated from their Colts over the last 2 Years (can you confirm if that's the case)?

Like i said in my previous post " Wanneroo perhaps wisely playing the long game in their planning in this shortened season".

Over and out.

Yeah mate you’re not too far off, obviously we have a few slightly older players but our oldest is 29 and I believe the team average is 23.
When I say we didn’t show up to play that’s in hindsight, obviously we planned on showing up to play but in reviewing the game we weren’t as desperate as we have been.
We were outplayed on the day no question but I think the game was actually closer than the final margin not further away and apparently the stats show that. Bassos backline beat our forward line though and perhaps at that end of the ground made it look easy.
Anyway, we lost so we’re out but not sulking, we know where to get better and we’ll be back. Catchya next season FB.

I do not know who you are, but am sure you have most of those facts wrong nevertheless,
Please leave MrM to talking about Wanneroo.
Thank you.
