He is doing ok so far AR he and Burns have put on over 160 for the 3rd wicket atm, although Root has struggled to turn his 50s into 100s of late?!

In fairness mate that is what NZ did to them in the previous Test at Mt Maunganui where Watling & Santner laboriously put on well over 250 in over a days play for the 9th wicket.

Bit baffling Root not pushing it a bit more or declaring earlier in the hope of a result needed another 100 at least to put pressure on pretty much consigned to a series loss unless an absolute miracle falls

Yeah Santner will definitely play in the Melbourne and Sydney Tests, will be interesting to see if the Kiwi selectors pick him for Perth with its extra pace and bounce. He is a very capable batsman coming in at 8 as well.
